General Dynamics Information Technology is looking for a Cloud Integration Engineer with software development skills to be a member of its Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) software development and integration team in Aberdeen Maryland.  The CBRN system is a set of custom, web-based, software applications that supply the Department of Defense (DOD) with the one and only accredited tool to effectively model and simulate the effects of CBRN incidents. This software provides warfighters with the ability to accurately model and predict the time-phased impact of CBRN and Toxic Industrial Chemical/Material (TIC/TIM) events and effects, and supports planning to mitigate the effects on humans and equipment. The candidate shall support the development, verification / validation, and integration of software into the CBRN enterprise system. 

Duties and responsibilities include:

  • Integration of Research and Development (R&D) software into cloud-ready frameworks to provide enterprise wide solutions
  • Developing and executing a plan to migrate custom software applications and data to a cloud environment
  • Assess and interpret code quality, be able to inspect code to verify quality issues, explain code quality issues and recommended corrective actions to the customer
  • Supporting Information Assurance (IA) Compliance (install IA updates and patches)
  • Management of host system installations and configurations
  • Providing review and comment of software documentation prior to its submittal
  • Participation in the development of, and provide review and comment on, draft architecture descriptions of software/systems supporting and their component systems in accordance with the DoD Architecture Framework (DoDAF)
  • Designing and coding software components, units, and modules that meet product specifications and development schedules
  • Performing systems modeling, simulation, and analysis
  • Testing and debugging assigned components and units.
  • Participating in large system and subsystem planning
  • Writing and updating technical documentation such as user manuals, system documentation, and training materials
  • Troubleshooting problems and providing customer support for software operating systems and application issues

The Cloud Integration Engineer shall have these skills:

  • Cloud modernization strategies, techniques and architectures
  • Policies, practices and trends (e.g., Cloud First, FedRAMP, DevSecOps, Software Factory)
  • Familiarity with cloud service providers (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google, etc.)
  • Working experience with cloud technologies (e.g., VMs, containers, serverless computing, microservices)
  • Migration and integration of applications and data in the cloud
  • Expertise with container based technologies, Kubernetes, etc.
  • Knowledge of software lifecycle tools (JIRA, Confluence, Jenkins, Maven, Ant, VMWare, etc.)
  • Knowledge of software quality assessment tools (SonarQube, Fortify, Crucible, JArchitect, etc.)
  • Ability to review and assess code with a focus on identifying complex code and recommend how a developer might address the code to reduce complexity (Java, C++ and JavaScript)

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: BA/BS (or equivalent experience), 10+ years of experience
