Virtual Desktop Integration (VDI) Administrator

Based in Doral, FL

(note - this is not a "work from home" role)

GDIT is providing enterprise-wide IT services/support to assist US SOUTHERN COMMAND (SOUTHCOM) perform mission critical operations throughout their area of responsibility, which consists of Central America, South America, and select countries in the Caribbean. SOUTHCOM is headquartered in Doral, FL. Which is where this position is also based. All together we support 10,000 users supported on this program (called SCITES, pronounced "cities"). We are currently in year 2 of a 7 year contract.

We are currently in midst of several upgrade projects. As part of this we are seeking a VDI Administrator, preferably someone who is in same type of role currently.

Types of responsibilities that the VDI Administrator will perform are:

Patching and upgrading Horizon View.

Updating and patching Windows Gold/Master/SHB image.

Enhancing and fine-tuning performance on VDI desktop.

Securing VDI desktop policies in Active Directory and DEM (Device Endpoint Manager).

Develops advanced technical solutions for the management of networks, software, hardware, configurations, and architectures.

Troubleshoots highly complex system hardware and software issues.

Develops training materials for end users on the proper use of hardware and software.

Develops implementation plans for software installations and upgrades to operating systems and layered software packages.

Monitors and tunes systems to achieve optimum performance levels.

Ensures workstation/server data integrity by implementing standard software and hardware solutions.

Leads efforts to ensure data/media recoverability by following a schedule of system backups and database archive operations.

Conducts advanced hardware and software audits of workstations and servers to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines.

Develops performance and security plans for computers that meet the needs of network users.

Evaluates existing systems and plans long-term strategies.

May coach and provide guidance to less-experienced professionals.

May serve as a team or task lead.


BA/BS or equivalent years of combined experience and training.


5+ years of IT experience with 1-2 years of hands on experience administering a Virtual Desktop Integration.


IAT Level II is required (i.e. Security+)

Operating System Computing Environment Certification - MCSA 2016 or AZ-104 or VCP Certifications (if not presently holding certification must be willing to obtain prior to starting in role.)


Prefer a Secret clearance with ability to obtain TS/SCI level access. We can sponsor if individual has all of the other qualifications we seek. Must have clearance (and relevant certifications) prior to start in role. Must be able to obtain TS/SCI eventually.
