As a Doctrinal Training Team (DTT) Subject Matter Expert (SME) supporting the Army National Guard (ARNG) Mission Command Training Support Program (MCTSP) you will be trusted to serve as a full time, highly qualified senior SME responsible for the collective training at a Mission Training Complex (MTC) to include the development of orders, scenarios, script writing, and exercises for MTC driven collective events.  You will provide mission command training and simulation exercises focused on the Military Decision-Making Process (MDMP) for staffs at the battalion level and above, a typical day will include:

  • Coaches, teaches, and mentors during Joint Event Life Cycle (JELC) to assist the commander in achieving training objectives. 
  • SME for brigade and below organizations to assist commanders and staff during the Military Decision-Making Process (MDMP) and provide on-site feedback, to include After Action Review (AAR) of MTC collective events.
  • Research, provide input, and help Commanders develop training scenarios which achieve their training requirements in the desired operating environment.
  • SME in the areas of military Live, Virtual, Constructive, and Gaming (LVC-G) training methods and procedures to include Simulations, Stimulations, and other Mission Command Training enablers.
  • Plans, coordinates, prepares, and conducts doctrinally current battle CPXs, Integrated STAFFEXs, Section STAFFEXs, Digital COMMEXs, MDMP workshops, and other associated events.
  • Prepares a Final Exercise Report (FER) that addresses the planning, preparation, and execution of each collective exercise.
  • Ensure that Government and contract guidelines, regulations, policies, and standards are compiled to safeguard personnel and GFE.

GDIT is looking for SMEs in the six Warfighting Functions (WFF)—Movement & Maneuver (M2), Mission Command (MC), Intelligence, Fires, Sustainment, and Protection.  GDIT is also looking for SMEs in low density Army branches such as chemical, sustainment, aviation, engineers, fires, etc.  SMEs that meet the preferred requirements, might qualify for DTT Lead positions.


  • Expert in Army and Joint Doctrine
  • 6 years of combined staff experience within a WWF at the Battalion level or above
  • 2 years working with Army Mission Command Information Systems (MCIS)
  • Army or ARNG leadership experience in Unit Training Management (UTM)
  • Knowledgeable in Army information systems to train MC principles
  • Specialized Functional Area experience could be as a O4/MAJ, E8/MSG, CW2/Warrant Officer with battalion level experience
  • Proficient with MS Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel and others)
  • Secret Clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Served on primary staff at the Brigade or Division Level
  • Battalion level command or higher
  • Combat Training Center (CTC) experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • PME which includes CGSC/MEL4, WOAC, or SLC and Battle Staff NCO Course
  • 12 years of experience
  • 5 years of experience utilizing the Joint Event Life Cycle (JELC) process
  • TS/SCI Clearance
