General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT) is hiring a subject matter expert (SME) Tester to work on the Navy and Marine Corps leading weather (aka Meteorological and Oceanographic (METOC)), application suite: Naval Integrated Tactical Environmental System – Next Generation (NITES-Next).  We are looking for a candidate with a background in METOC and weather prediction such a former Navy Aerographers Mate (AG) who has or is willing to develop technical testing skills. Candidates will use their METOC user experience help the team improve the product and to test the application both with automated tests and manually. NITES-Next is a web-based application with a Java backend and a React JavaScript (React JS) frontend that runs in the Electron Framework.  Candidates will work on an active and supportive Scrum Agile development team.  We use a continuous integration environment (CIE) and are transitioning to a DevOps (aka SecDevOps) environment that will be hosted in the Navy’s Overmatch Software Armory (OSA).

  • Geospatial Information System: GeoServer with GDAL; OGC Services
  • Web Based Map: OpenLayers
  • Build Orchestration: Jenkins, Maven
  • Configuration Management: Nexus, Subversion (transitioning to GIT based BitBucket)
  • Container Architecture: RedHat OpenShift Service Mesh (a cloud-based Kubernetes container platform)

Core Skills: Domain experience in Meteorological and Oceanographic (METOC) / Weather.

Desirable Skills: Experience with using or developing automated tests with Postman framework.

Other Good Skills: Experience with any of the other technologies listed

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: BA/BS (or equivalent experience), 2+ years of experience
