GDIT is seeking a Network Security Manager to support the National Institute of Health (NIH) Center for Information Technology (CIT). The manager is responsible for the network security artifacts and supports the ISSO to achieve and maintain the system Authorities to Operate (ATO). This individual is responsible for the management and provisioning of security services and service restoration in compliance with customer SLAs.


  • Managing a team of 15+ Network Security Engineers who are responsible for the infrastructure and administration of Cisco ASA Firewalls, Network Access Control, Remote Access, and Load Balancing solutions.
  • Managing security documentation requirements to maintain an ATO and fulfill continuous monitoring program requirements
  • Ensuring that the program is compliant with Federal system security controls to ensure compliance with NIST policies
  • Supporting security-related assessments and audits.
  • Supporting vulnerability remediation.
  • Developing, distributing and/or presenting all security-related information and training across the Network Services program.
  • Leading the response to any/all network security incidents and events
  • Assisting in troubleshooting and problem-solving a wide variety of client/user network security issues and acting as an escalation point for these issues.
  • Managing and coordinating lifecycle device management of network security systems.
  • Developing and maintaining an effective and productive relationship with government security personnel and their stakeholders to ensure client satisfaction with the overall security posture.
  • Producing weekly activity report and monthly status reports, including accomplishments, planned activities, performance, etc.
  • Providing security guidance, awareness, and training regarding security requirements, including the handling of sensitive data.
  • Working closely with ISSOs and other security representatives to ensure compliance with security requirements
  • Maintaining and monitoring internal security and NIST control implementations.
  • Conducting routine review of policies and procedures to lead to process, performance or security posture improvement.
  • Collaborating with architects and other IT professionals to integrate security considerations into solutions from implementation to operational support to retirement.
  • Collaborating with other IT functional teams to ensure cohesive support and strategies across the IT organization
  • Hiring and performance management for employees and subcontractors
  • Maintaining relationships with key Third-Party software/hardware vendors to provide support for the security infrastructure as needed.


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering
  • Minimum of 10 years of Network Security experience
  • One or more of the following certifications: CISSP, CCNP, CCIE
  • Minimum of five years of experience managing and/or leading a Network Security team (preferably seven or more)
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience supporting the administration of Cisco ASA Firewalls, Network Access Control, Remote Access, and Load Balancing solutions
  • Experience with ensuring program compliance with Federal system security controls and NIST policies
  • Must be able to obtain a NIH Public Trust


  • Cisco CCNA/CCNA/Security, CCNP/CCNP Security, CCIE certifications
  • Cisco SISE certification
  • Forescout FSCA/FSAA/FSCE certifications
  • Experience with Cisco wireless LAN controllers
  • Experience with Forescout security products
  • Experience configuring Cisco ASAs and switches
  • Experience configuring 802.1X
  • Experience configuring and implementing network segmentation including VLANs and MPLS
  • Experience with multiple end-system operating systems including Windows, Linux, Mac OS, and Apple IOS
  • Experience with ServiceNow and Visio
