As a Software Developer (Systems Software) supporting the customer, you will be trusted to be a strong and creative Software Engineer focusing on ServiceNow Software development, Engineering and O&M. Our customer space is a private network maintaining Mission Critical Networks and applications. A ServiceNow instance has been stood up to run the ITIL processes, Discovery module, and group identifications. Our instance is solely for our Group (400+ people). This role is that of a sole development with full autonomy over their workload, forward –leaning solutions towards integrations, ITIL reporting, and dashboard creations. A day will include:

  • Maintains and upgrades the current instance of ServiceNow including routine changes or configuration adjustments as needed.
  • Performs management and configuration of ServiceNow applications and modules, product development, service automation, and system integration (to include but not limited to: Incident, Problem, Change, Service Request, CMDB, Discovery/Asset Management).
  • Participates and manages development efforts pertaining to modules, applications, and major releases of the ServiceNow native platform and ServicePortal
  • Participates in the configuration of new applications or functionality during planning, requirement gathering, design, development, documentation, and rollout phases
  • Contributes to the strategic development of new platform customizations, as needed, based on customer needs
  • Attends meetings, as needed, to solicit feedback from stakeholders regarding various modules of the tool whenever change is warranted or requested
  • Assesses architecture and current system limitations, defines and designs system specifications, and evaluates input/output processes and working parameters for hardware/software compatibility
  • Aids with report configuration and maintenance and performs operational administrative tasks, as needed
  • Analyzes and resolves program support deficiencies. Conducts independent technical investigations in systems architecture and design. And can work independently as well as with team members to follow-through and complete assigned development tasks/projects in a professional manner
  • IT Service Management – Design and implement solutions following established IT Service Management policies and standards. Ensure delivered solution enables the organization to manage incidents, problems, changes and service requests with respect to risk, cost, control, IT governance, compliance and business performance objectives
  • Provide technical leadership in both system integration as well as application development and promote best practices in these areas
  • Lead/contribute in architecture, design & code reviews of IT Service Management solutions
  • Prepare and maintain technical specifications and documents; architecture diagrams, system documentation, operating manuals, and call flow diagrams

Requirements:

  • SME level knowledge of core software engineering, system design, and integration
  • Proficiency with technical ServiceNow components such as: business rules, client scripts, UI policies, layouts, reporting, script includes, workflows, and record producers.Proficiency with HTML, XML, JavaScript
  • Experience working with customers to understand requirements and implementing information technology solutions / initiatives /service automation
  • Proven experience with creating and managing technical documentation
  • High level involvement with commitment to meeting individual, team, and organization goals
  • Ability to foster and management relationships with internal teams and external customers
  • Certifications preferred – ServiceNow System Administrator, ServiceNow Implementation Specialist or ServiceNow Application Developer
  • Experience with Linux and Windows servers

  • Strong written and oral communications required

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: BA/BS (or equivalent experience), 15+ years of experience
