GDIT is looking for a motivated person who is interested in joining a mid-size Agile development team. This position provides an opportunity to work with a team of scientific and technical staff in support of the Department of Defense Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs (CDMRP). CDMRP is a global funding organization that represents a unique partnership among the US Congress, the military, and the public to manage individual programs for cancer research, military medical research, and other disease- and injury-specific research. All the programs managed by CDMRP share the common goal of advancing paradigm-shifting research, solutions that will lead to cures or improvements in patient care, or breakthrough technologies and resources for clinical benefit. CDMRP implements the investment of congressionally directed dollars provided.  

The successful candidate should possess expert knowledge of React, Javascript, HTML5 and CSS3, have some experience with Linux and Windows systems, and other client-side development tools, ensuring development of robust and lasting solutions. The chosen candidate should excel at turning UI designs into highly intuitive, functional, responsive digital environments. The individual must be a flexible, multi-tasking, self-starting problem solver with a passion for building great user experiences. 
 
 
Responsibilities and Duties in this role include, but are not limited to the following: 

  • Proven ability to translate UI design concepts and prototypes into pixel-perfect interfaces 
  • Works with UX team members to ensure the technical feasibility and responsiveness of UI designs 
  • Experience mentoring junior developers 
  • Solid understanding of client-side web development concepts such as React, the HTML DOM model, and technologies such as Java, HTML5, CSS3, SaSS (or LESS), JavaScript, and JQuery 
  • Performs unit testing at the page level 
  • Reviews specifications and provides time estimates on the development of projects and features. Meets established deadlines. 
  • Builds reusable code, templates, module, artifacts, and libraries for future use 
  • Optimizes site for load times, speed and scalability 
  • Responsible for interface implementation and integrates web applications with back-end databases 
  • Writing comprehensive documentation for RESTful API web services 

 
Qualifications and Skills: 

  • Expert understanding of client-side scripting and JavaScript frameworks, including React and jQuery 
  • Strong portfolio showcasing broad range of UX/UI developer projects 
  • Expert understanding of web markup language, including HTML5, CSS3, and Web scripting 
  • Experience with code repository systems such as Git, extensive knowledge of responsive design methodologies and ability to integrate with APIs 
  • Proficient understanding of cross-browser compatibility issues and design 
  • Experience in refactoring front-end code to support changes in design requirements 
  • Excellent ability to manage timelines and be self-directed. 
  • Ability to work well in a team environment as well as lead other team members to provide the best solution 
  • Knowledge of AWS & general cloud computing infrastructure 
  • Requires US Citizenship 

 
Desired Qualifications: 

  • 5-7 years of experience in front end development 
  • BS or equivalent + 4 yrs related experience 
  • Adept in analytical and debugging skills  
  • AWS Certified Developer  
  • Experience with an IDE would be a plus: Atom, Eclipse Visual Studio, Eclipse  
  • Experience or willing to learn Java
