work depends on a Launch Communication Engineer joining our team to

support our government client’s activities in their locations.

At GDIT, people are our differentiator. As a Launch Communication Engineer supports and provides launch communications infrastructure support functions, to include: 

  • Anticipate, define, and collect launch communication requirements and develop required documentation supporting design, modification, construction, installation, and activation of designed launch facilities and systems. Evaluate solutions to new communication requirements. 
  • Investigate systems capabilities, operations, practices, and standards that may affect performance of launch business or launch operational information flows. 
  • Support concept development, design reviews, and cost analysis of launch infrastructure projects to ensure adequate emphasis and consideration in design and construction projects. 
  • Evaluate and support launch communication engineering requirements identified by the customer. 
  • Identify potential launch site vulnerabilities and shortfalls of launch support for Mission IT, launch communications, infrastructure, and systems. 
  • Identify potential vulnerabilities and shortfalls of launch support systems, supporting utilities (e.g., power, Heating, Ventilation & Air Conditioning (HVAC)), facility usage (computer equipment room (CER)), dependent infrastructure provided by others (Range connectivity, point of presence buildings, communication huts, etc.). 
  • Identify and price launch communication impacts for facility modifications or new launch support facility builds. 
  • Provide recommendations to reduce cost and meet future requirements during facility modification and facility build design reviews concerning launch communication support. 
  • Apply industry standards and best practices for implementing launch communication infrastructure. 
  • Collect launch communication project impact information from various stakeholders (e.g., security, communication(s) providers, operations areas, launch base safety team) for inclusion in launch communication requirements packages. 
  • Document and provide capacity management assessments and recommendations for  fiber assets and duct bank systems at launch bases. 
  • Provide expertise and knowledge of fiber and conveyance systems (duct banks, huts, manholes, hand holes, etc.) of communication providers at launch bases.
  • Prepare, maintain, and deliver a list of service providers and systems that are necessary to achieve mission success and launch site efficiency. 
  • Serve as a representative for providing service provider implementation status and recommendations of processes or requirement tracking.  (Service requires non-disclosure agreements and privileged access to customer information of contracts, strategic planning, and cost measures.) 
  • Participates in special projects as required.

● Education: Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Science or equivalent
● Required Experience: 5+ years of related experience
● Security Clearance Level: TS/SCI with Polygraph

Salary and Benefit Information

The likely salary range for this position is $104,000 - $156,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
