GDIT is seeking a Junior Platform Infrastructure Engineer in Arlington, VA that has a Linux/Windows base and who has supported a DevOps/Hybrid-Cloud environment.

This candidate will provide design, implementation, and ongoing support of the production services, applications and platform components that comprise the backend. Candidates must leverage technical skills in systems management, software development and database skills to provide best-practices guidance for new services, analysis, requirements development, and implementation for complex to extremely complex systems. Provides platform support for build engineers, system engineers, security engineers, automation engineers, and software testers providing system engineering services for core applications services, implementation, and modernization of customer applications (e.g., web-based apps, mobile apps) and discoverable enterprise services; the customization, configuration, and integration of Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) and Government-Off-The-Shelf (GOTS) software products and services; end-to-end managed service capabilities; and professional services (e.g., help desk, network management and operations, program management, leased data circuits and transport, and operating equipment and facilities).

Candidate must demonstrate proficiency providing backend platform infrastructure supporting active directory, Domain Name System (DNS), Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol, Domain File Services, print services, server backup services, antivirus, server operating systems, monitoring tools, and other specialty IT systems; Quickly and efficiently troubleshoot simple and complex issues in order to provide outstanding support for internal service level objectives Identify areas for process and efficiency improvement within Platform Services; recommend solutions and assist in overseeing implementation. Actively facilitate continuous improvement; Ensure all necessary operational processes and procedures are carried out with a high level of attention to detail, expediency and on-time delivery; Define and document standard run books and operating procedures; Create and maintain system information and architecture diagrams; Monitor various systems capacity and health indicators and trends; provide analytics & forecasts for added or reduced capacity as required.

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • DevSecOps deployment model - Understanding of Agile methodology. CMMI, ITIL a plus

  • Unix/Linux/MS Windows 2019 experience required

  • Experience with hybrid-cloud services (Amazon EC2/S3, OpenStack) elastic capacity administration and hybrid-cloud deployment and administration tools a plus

  • Understanding of revision control and continuous integration best practices.

  • Experience with build management and continuous integration tools (Bamboo, Jenkins)

  • Experience with relational databases in the area of schema design, stored procedures, and query optimization

  • Understanding of automation practices throughout the development, build, and deployment phases of the application life-cycle

  • Understanding of TCP/IP, load balancing clusters, server load balancing, firewalls

  • Experience with configuration and change management, monitoring, and trending.

  • Disaster Recovery Planning – to include command and control, hybrid-cloud based, and traditional data center)

  • Support Hybrid-Cloud development pipelines using CI/CD tooling, GitLab, GitHub, Azure DevOps, etc.

  • Scripting experience (e.g. Bash, Python, Ruby, PowerShell)

  • Familiar with configuration management, Puppet, Ansible, Chef.

  • Various Monitoring Tools – Riverbed, Solarwinds, etc.

  • Develop and coordinate detailed proposals for implementation of new technologies

  • Excellent communication skills

Required Experience:

  • Active Secret Clearance

  • 2 - 5 years of experience

  • BA/BS or equivalent years of experience

  • Security+ CE certification required

  • Understanding of DoD, DISA cybersecurity requirements

Desired Experience:

  • MCSE – Core Infrastructure or MSCE – Productivity
