The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation [FDIC] mission is to preserve and promote public confidence in the U.S. financial systems by insuring deposits in banks and thrift institutions for up to $250,000; by identifying, monitoring, and addressing risks to the deposit insurance funds; and by limiting the effect on the account and the financial system when a bank or thrift institution fails. GDIT provides the day-to-day operational services to FDIC in support of infrastructure, facilities, hardware, software, and systems. GDIT supports operational security, client support/help desk, data center operations, asset management, and systems engineering service areas. The FDIC Engineering team provides support to a plethora of cutting-edge technologies across the IT spectra. It has a state of the art development lab to test new functionality, architectures, and equipment. Engineers are tasked with developing and deploying innovative solutions to meet business requirements - not managing day to day, same technology operations.
GDIT is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer for the FDIC infrastructure program. U.S. Citizenship and background investigation is required; you must have a current clean financial background. (Though the position is 8-5 M-F, the role requires flexibility to support issues or planned activities after hours, weekends and holidays as needed.) Successful candidate must possess and be able to demonstrate technical skills and engineering attitude for success, dedication and commitment.
The Senior Systems Engineer is responsible in migrating on-premise Microsoft services to Microsoft Azure Cloud. The candidate will provide architecture and automation enhancement, and best practices regarding Microsoft collaboration of products (Email to the Cloud – Office 365, SharePoint Online, One Drive, and Skype for Business) for a large Federal Agency IT Contract.
Task and responsibilities in this role include, but are not limited to the following:
Design and implement advanced functions of Office 365 including security, governance and compliance (e.g., DLP, IRM, MDM, E-Discovery, In-Place Hold, Retention Tags, and Encryption) 5+ years of progressive experience with the supporting Exchange Online and Microsoft O365
Experience with large Exchange to Office 365 migrations supporting large Government Agency.
Hands-on design and implementation of Office 365 solutions, Skype for Business, Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange Server deployments, Azure Active Directory, and Active Directory Federation Services (ADFS).
Design and implement hybrid migrations to Exchange Online from environments that contain multiple Active Directory Forest environments and multiple Exchange organizations.
Thorough understanding of email systems and major, nationwide networks and infrastructures
Demonstrate Level 3 experience troubleshooting and resolving Outlook, COTS and GOTS software and message transmission problems
Experience supporting mission critical, 24x7 systems; available for shift and weekend tasks as assigned.
Collaborate with other IT staff, including networking, security, and data center operation teams, to facilitate effective issue resolution.
To qualify, you must meet these basic qualifications:
3+ years establishing and maintaining O365 Exchange mailboxes, user accounts, distribution groups and providing input on enterprise exchange policies and procedures
Experience designing and implementing Microsoft Office 365, Exchange Server and Active Directory required.
Must have excellent organizational and project management skills
Must have strong written and verbal communication skills
BA/BS and eight years experience
It would be great if you also had:
Experience with Skype for Business and/or Azure IaaS/PaaS
Experience working in a consulting environment
Basic knowledge of additional Microsoft Office 365 & Microsoft technologies (SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams)
