Seeking an Electrical Technician to support shipboard testing efforts for our Navy customer. The candidate will have experience as an electrical technician and the ability to troubleshoot control systems with the use of system documentation and electrical schematics. The candidate will be expected to lead shipboard test and troubleshooting efforts. The candidate will be expected to complete assigned tasking even if doing so requires more time than expected. The candidate will be tasked by and report to technical leads. The candidate will be expected to provide documented status updates on a regular basis.
Lead a shipboard test and troubleshooting evolution
Troubleshoot control systems with the use of system documentation and electrical schematics
Provide test support for all variants of fielded systems at LBES and shipboard
Provide shipboard software and hardware installation support of all variants of fielded systems at LBES and shipboard
Provide documented status updates on a regular basis
Act as a liaison between shipboard test team, ship's force, test team and technical leads back in Philadelphia
Maintain personal source of information between jobs and tasking
Aid in test procedure edits, development and implementation
Associates Degree in a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training or work experience.
8 years of experience as an electrical technician
Experience tracing signals and diagnosing or isolating cause for electrical failures
Experience with grounded and ungrounded systems
Technical Skillsets Required:
Understands electronic control systems and how they interface with sensors, pumps, and other mechanical and electronic equipment
Advanced electrical troubleshooting skills to include the ability to use a digital multimeter.
Advanced electrical principals to include understanding the difference between current, voltage and resistance as well as how to effectively troubleshoot circuits containing them
Ability to use an oscilloscope and signal generator
Ability to read and understand electrical schematics
Proficiency with a personal computer (PC)
Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (especially Excel, Word, and Outlook)
The ability to learn new PC applications as needed
Familiarity with embedded control systems both centralized and decentralized
Reasonable problem solving ability
Attention to detail and meticulous logging of testing, troubleshooting steps, and findings
Advanced Skillsets Desired:
Advanced computer skills to include use of HyperTerminal, Putty, or an equivalent serial interface
Ability to use a VME Bus analyzer
Ability to lead a shipboard test and troubleshooting evolution
Regular expected travel frequency 30-50%
Professional written and oral skills are required
Successful applicants must either have an active government security clearance or the ability to receive approval upon position acceptance.
Must have a valid US passport or the ability to obtain one upon position acceptance.
Must be able to obtain/maintain Secret clearance.
