GDIT is seeking a Technical Writer Senior to support the Force Protection System (FPS) platforms. We are looking for motivated self-starters who want to join a team dedicated to excellence and continuous progress.  Selected candidates will participate in activities at any point in the system development life cycle including documenting systems analysis/requirements definition design, development, integration, testing, acceptance/deployment, sustainment/maintenance, and evaluation. Experience with Integrated Base Defense (IBD) Kitting, Entry Control Point (ECP), Non-Intrusive Inspection System (NIIS), Rapid Reaction Tunnel Detection (R2TD), Joint Defense Operation Center (JDOC), Combat Outpost Force Protection System (COSFPS), Base Expeditionary Targeting Surveillance System – Combined (BETSS-C), BETSS-C Cerberus Scout, BETSS-C Full Motion Video (FMV) , Bistatic Surveillance System (BSS), Rapid Deployment Integrated Surveillance System (RDISS), Force Protection (FP) Suite and Husky Mounted Detection System (HMDS, AN/VSS-6A) Suite of Systems is helpful.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the engineering team Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), Logisticians, and other Technical Writers to support the creation of technical data
  • Provide subject matter expertise in the creation of templates, and be able to describe complex and technical topics in a clear, concise, and accurate manner
  • Lead review of documentation as required
  • Other duties as assigned by the Engineering Team Project Manager



Required Skills:

  • MA/MS degree and 4 years of relevant technical experience, BA/BS degree and 6 years of relevant experience, AA/AS degree and 8 years of relevant experience, or HS diploma and 10 years of relevant experience
  • DoD 8570 technical certifications as directed by the government and Program Manager
  • US Government Secret or higher level security clearance as required
  • Prior experience with developing technical data for DoD programs
  • Excellent written communication and grammatical skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Experience working directly with technical SMEs
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across multiple teams
  • Experience working with S1000D or similar collaborative product data system
