GDIT has an immediate opportunity for a Senior Storage Administrator to work in either our Chantilly, VA or Durham, NC office.
NOTE: This is a full-time, onsite position. Due to the type of access this role entails, telecommuting is not allowed.
In this role you will be an active member of the milCloud 2.0 Team performing analysis, configuration, installations, upgrades, monitoring, maintenance, troubleshooting, patching, compiling, securing and repair of Storage Systems in a cloud service provider environment. The right candidate will work well with a team, exhibit excellent customer service skills at all times and be self-motivated seeking ways to improve the environment. GDIT delivers the milCloud 2.0 cloud service to the Department of Defense (DoD) as an on premise commercial cloud service, services offerings currently include or may include in the future:

Systems administration and security support
Develop and maintain custom scripts and stored procedures to automate repetitive tasks and improve consistency in operations and maintenance activities. May include creating scripts using various languages to include Bash, Python, or PHP to automate various tasks in multiple environments using Ansible and Puppet.
Serve as a hands-on valued contributor to many initiatives within the operations team and collaborate with engineering and other teams to address issues and ensure problems are resolved in a timely and in an efficient manner
Perform software installation, update and patch on Pure Storage, Cloudian, Rubrik, and Dell/EMC storage systems
Provide leadership and mentoring, and work within a collaborative team environment.
Deploy approved release packages and break-fix solutions in accordance with all enterprise architecture and configuration, change, and release management policies and procedures.
Perform day to day operational and maintenance taskers to ensure the health and stability of our storage systems and databases.
Monitor infrastructure, systems operations, and critical application services 24/7; provide information and statistics relevant to system limits on capacity, data storage, system utilization, etc.; respond to critical outages and restore services within agreed upon service levels.
Developing and interpreting detailed installation instructions and supporting documentation to effect system design deployments.
Participate as necessary in the validation matrix role to independently test and validate solutions to ensure fulfillment of all business requirements, compliance of regulations and quality of solutions.
Interact with the Operations and Engineering Managers, Team Leads, customer, and site staff occasionally attending regularly scheduled customer meetings.
Maintain the integrity and security of storage systems by following established security protocols and practices; analyze systems and keep systems current with changing technologies.
Perform system updates, make recommendations on server configurations, and implement changes in multiple environments from test or development to production.
Respond to alerts, customer reported issues, escalate problems as required, and resolve significant matters exercising independent judgment and within established support practices.
Active TOP SECRET security clearance
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field and least 8 years work experience with the design, installation, administration & maintenance of Linux systems (preferably RHEL v6.x, 7.x and CENTOS); or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Demonstrate success in provisioning and mainlining iSCSI storage solutions and or Fibre Channel storage solutions utilizing flash storage, block storage, NAS storage and object storage.
Experience with enterprise backup storage solutions and administration.
Experience administering fibre channel and iSCSI switches.
Strong experience of Linux operating systems required (RedHat preferred)
Experience with layers 1 through 4 of the OSI networking model to support iSCSI storage as well as object storage
Strong experience in Unix/Linux infrastructure, SAN/NAS and backup technologies
Prior experience working on complex deployments involving automation.
Experience with deployment and administrative repositories for things like Ansible playbooks, Puppet manifests, Shell scripts, etc..
Knowledge and proficiency in delivering storage and backup services in a multitenant environment
Perform rack mounting and configuration of storage systems in a development and staging facility
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills needed to work with business partners, engineering, operations and vendors
Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills with a service oriented mindset
Quick learner, detail oriented; demonstrable thoroughness and strong ownership of work
Good team player with a strong willingness to participate and help others

Work related travel may be required
Able to provide On-Call Support, 24/7, as needed
Experience with Block Level storage devices such as Pure Storage and Dell/EMC’
Experience with iSCSI storage over TCP/IP networks
Experience with Object Storage solutions
Experience with file, volume, and virtual machine backups
Experience with managing work tasks via tools such as JIRA and ServiceNow
Experience with enterprise technologies such as Pure Storage, Dell EqualLogic, Cloudian, and Rubrik
QEMU / KVM and VMware ESXi hypervisor
Distributed storage systems such as cloudian, ceph, gluster, nutanix, cohesity, ect
Ability to use REST APIs
MySQL (simple SQL statements, backups)
Nagios or Icinga
RHEL 6 and 7
Security guidelines such as STIG and CIS
PXE Booting from iSCSI
