As a Java Developer supporting DOJ USTP program, you will be trusted to do develop code in the iterative, incremental design/build/test cycle of an Agile development process and using test-driven development. You will be part of a 13 person team supporting the USTP DBMS bankruptcy mission. DGIT is supporting a federal agency’s transformation of a key mission system to modern, cloud-based technology, leveraging large-scale Agile and test-driven development practices. This position is based in Washington, DC.

In this role, a typical day will include:
Review functional requirements, performance criteria, and data consumption needs to support the design and development of technical components.
Design and develop application code
Design and develop test code
Able to troubleshoot technical issues (error messages, bugs with the software, availability)
Participate in a Scrum team, attend standups and estimate complexity for stories and tasks assigned
Enforce code quality through test-driven development and leverage automation testing tools within a Continuous Integration Continuous Development CI/CD environment
Proactively seeks opportunities to implement improvements to internal team processes
Contributes to an atmosphere of cross-functional teamwork within the organizations Agile project lifestyle.
This candidate should possess the Java development skills such as the following: Adobe Enterprise Manager, Java/JEE (1.5/1.6), Web Services, XIS, XML, XSD, SOAP, REST, Spring, Hibernate, JUNIT, Shell Scripting
Enthusiasm for solving interesting problems, willingness to perform a variety of roles and eagerness to learn new skills
Ability to excel within an “Agile environment (i.e. user stories, iterative development, continuous integration, shared ownership, test-driven development, etc.)
At least 3 years’ experience in Java technologies and components for software development
Experience working in a CI/CD development environment
Must be able to obtain a DOJ public trust clearance
