As an Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) Solutions Architect supporting our broad portfolio of programs across the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS), you will be trusted with the overall design and development of AI and ML solutions.     In this role, you will evaluate AI/ML technologies and solutions and develops technical roadmaps for future implementations.

In this role, a typical day will include:

  • Works with customers to define key capabilities and performance requirements.
  • Develops business case analysis on potential projects.
  • Ensures security is integrated into all architecture solutions.
  • Acts as a subject-matter expert for multiple areas including; system engineering process, Information Assurance (IA), Cyber Security, and configuration management.
  • Leads planning for implementation of system additions and/or enhancements. Makes recommendations to program leadership and stakeholders.
  • Evaluates new application, infrastructure and cloud decisions in existing context of applications, infrastructure, standards, current business strategy and future business strategy.
  • Determines system specifications, input/output processes, and working parameters for hardware/software compatibility.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience

Required Experience/Technical Qualifications

  • 15 plus years of experience designing and integrating technology solutions to solve business needs.
  • 2 years of hands-on experience with AWS implementations
  • 2 years of hands-on experience with one or more Big Data platforms such as EMR, Databricks, Hortonworks, Cloudera
  • 1 year of hands-on experience with developing, architecting or running ML/deep learning workloads in the cloud
  • Knowledge of one or more ML products (SAS Enterprise miner, IBM SPSS Modeler, Rapid Miner, Anaconda)
  • 1 year of experience with one or more deep learning libraries such as TensorFlow,  PyTorch, Keras, and others
  • 3 years of experience with predictive modeling in R and/or Python
  • Familiar with one or more Data Science notebooks (Zeppelin, Jupyter)
  • 3 years of experience with SQL
  • Familiar with  contextual word embeddings (one or more of word2vec/GloVe/ELMO/BERT)
  • Knowledge of search and indexing using Big data (SOLR, Lucene)

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE

  • Health Care Industry or Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) experience
  • AWS – Certified associate architect
  • AWS – Certified Professional architect
  • AWS - Certified Machine Learning Specialty
  • Experience with Azure and GCS
  • Experience with SAS (GRID, Viya) on premises or in the cloud
  • Containerization experience with Kubernetes, Docker, AWS ECS
  • Hands-on experience with networking and data migrations
  • Hands-on experience with hybrid cloud implementations
  • Hands-on experience with OKTA, SAML integrations, Windows administrations
  • Familiar with NLP/text mining
  • Familiar with a broad range of ML and deep learning frameworks
  • Soft skills to work with a broad group of individuals from very technical, project, program and Customer facing
  • Exceptional written communication and presentation skills including the ability to engage different stakeholders in developing and implementing designs
  • Strong analytical and problem solving capabilities

CONDITIONS

  • Must be able to obtain a public trust clearance
  • Must have lived in the United States at least three (3) of the last five (5) years
