The well-qualified candidate will have demonstrated experience in the following task areas:

Technical duties/responsibilities:

  • Perform administration, maintenance, patching, and tuning of batch-related servers used within high performance computing environments;
  • Assist in the resolution of user-level and system-level technical issues;
  • Perform continuing development and improvement to system administration-level and user-level documentation;
  • Monitor overall health and configuration of geographically disbursed HPC batch environments;
  • Develop and maintain batch-related System Administrator and User level documentation;
  • Perform batch system configuration;
  • Perform system testing and benchmarking within an HPC environment;
  • Develops advanced engineering ideas and guides their development into a final product;

Project management oversight skills to:

  • Capture, develop, and deliver batch-related custom solutions based upon stakeholder requirements;
  • Develop and deliver project documentation;
  • Meet and follow project requirements developed with stakeholder and management input;
  • Ensure support requests are acknowledged and responded to in a timely manner;
  • Ensure information provided is sufficient as to be understood by users and staff at multiple technical levels;
  • Identify system abnormalities and components that may require tuning;

Reporting

  • Develop status and ad hoc reports, as necessary;

Desired Skills

  • Demonstrated experience in supporting, configuring, and tuning of on-prem SLURM resource management environments;  same experience within a Cloud environment is a plus;
  • Expert skills in the development and modification of Perl and Python scripting languages;
  • Expert skills in developing Linux-based scripts in RHEL7/CentOS7 environments;
  • Demonstrated experience within a database environment in one or more of the following: MariaDB (10.x or above), MySQL, and/or Postgres; including developing customized reports and metrics from same;
  • Proactive problem solver;
  • Team player who can work independently or in a team environment;
  • Ability to utilize Linux-based tools and commands;

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: BA/BS (or equivalent experience), 5+ years of experience

This position requires being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by January 18, 2022 or the start date, if after January 18. Individuals who work in or reside in Florida, Montana, Tennessee, Texas, or work outside of the United States may be excluded from this requirement.

The likely salary range for this position is $112,000 - $168,000, this is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary; rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
