Job Description

GDIT has an opportunity for a dynamic Linux System Admin candidate to join our high functioning team of analysts, designers, and developers to deliver outstanding results for our customer. The qualified applicant will become part of GDIT’s team to support the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts (AO) Case Management System Office (CMSO) suite of computer and automated software applications. The CMSO has a mature Agile practice using the SAFe framework and supports a broad range of complex business systems which are instrumental to the AO mission.

Strong experience with Linux (RHEL) administration

•Proficiency with deployment, and maintenance of Red Hat Linux, OS, Apache, Tomcat, and Informix components

•Highly skilled in scripting languages (e.g. shell/bash, Perl, and Python)

•Strong networking, and internet technology knowledge (HTTP, SMTP, firewall, DNS, TCP/IP, and load balancing concepts)

•Working experience with Trend Micro Deep Security, Sumo Logic, Burp Suite Scanner, HP Fortify an asset

•Deploying and maintaining infrastructure resources to support the delivery of products and services to clients at scale

•General Administration of Unix/Linux - Installation, Users Creation, Group Creation, Permissions, Creations of Folders, Mail/SMTP, Web (Apache, Tomcat), FTP, DNS, Proxy, Samba, Firewall (NAT, IP Tables, Packet Filter, IP Filter), LDAP, NFS, NIS, NFS/CIFS/FCP

•Performing problem diagnosis, troubleshooting, and resolution

•Performing new hardware and Linux OS installations, patching and upgrades

•Maintaining operating systems and associated infrastructure software

•Designing and documenting SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) for system administration activities

•Building and maintaining operating system images in line with industry best practice, and security standards

•Researching and innovating solutions for continual improvements to system availability, scalability, and security

•Evaluating and implementing new appliances, and service solutions as necessary in order meet continually evolving requirements with regards to availability, security, and compliance

•Assisting the infrastructure team in the administration of other resources as related to service delivery

•Coordinating and communicating with internal teams as needed in support of service delivery

•Providing technical support for external client administrators in management of client-hosted infrastructure deployments

•Performing regular system, and security monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of systems, resources, and key processes

•Ability to remediate findings from security vulnerability and network scanning

•Maintaining procedural and technical documentation

•SSL cert installation & troubleshooting

•Working experience with Cloud preferred

Communication and Organizational

•             Strong, and effective communication, and collaboration skills

•             Strong analytical skills and troubleshooting ability

•             Strong organizational and documentation skills

•             Experience communicating and collaborating with developers, testers, systems engineer, DBAs, scrum masters, business owners and management

•             Ability to work with technical writers giving the instructions for SOPs, and other release/operational documents

•             Ability to work independently and with various other teams across the organization

•             Ability to work with teams that support application (both centralized and distributed)

•             Familiarity with the Agile principles and methodology, SAFe Framework

•             Strong familiarity with Agile software management tools like Atlassian applications

Qualifications:

•7+ years of experience managing systems and applications running on Linux operating systems, and Unix server setup, deployment and maintenance

•Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Programming, Computer Engineering or relevant computer-based major.

•Experience may be considered in lieu of degree

•Perferred: RedHat Certified Systems Administrator

Salary and Benefit Information

The likely salary range for this position is $80,226 - $133,973, this is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary; rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
