Tasks include:

  • Create, design, layout, illustrate, proof, and produce products to include the following:
    • Presentations, banners, posters, displays, brochures, newsletters, fact sheets, programs, certificates, charts, graphs, tables, illustrations, and interior signs, miscellaneous products;
    • Matting, mounting and laminating;
    • Presentations in a variety of deliverable media
  • Utilize the Adobe Suite and Photoshop
  • Take raw concepts and develop finished products
  • Tear down and remove old exhibit materials (related to information technology) as well as move in and set up of signage and graphic image
  • Coordinate with NMUSA departments to design signage for new exhibits; research for IT compliance; and design, create, and lay out artwork and images.
  • Support internal and external events. Events estimated at two events per month, on average.


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or related field of study


  • 10+ years of experience in Information Technology Field or Graphic Design.
  • Efficient utilization of the products in the Adobe Creative Cloud Suite (Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Acrobat.
  • Mastery of the competencies related to visual organization, working with visual elements in two and three dimensions, color theory and its applications, visual storytelling, and graphic depiction of news and data.
  • Familiarity with WordPress.
  • Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand the English language including unique technical terminology required for the performance of these duties and functions.
  • Must have the ability to operate a computer and be familiar with using the Microsoft Office Suite.

Certification Requirements:

  • Certification in at least one of the following areas:
    • Graphic Design
    • Adobe Photoshop
    • Adobe Illustrator

Clearance Requirements:

  • Favorably adjudicated National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) at time of start

Work Location:

  • National Museum of the United States Army, Fort Belvoir, Virginia
  • Contract requires coverage between the hours of 6:00am-6:00pm Monday-Friday, working an 8 hour shift. Core hours are 10am-2pm. Shift time to be determined.
  • Some flexibility may be required to cover when others are out of office
  • Telework only under special circumstances and must be authorized by the government


  • Occasional travel may be required – normally less than 10%.
