Job Description:

GDIT is seeking a Lead Configuration Manager in support of the Integrated Base Defense – Sustainment Support (IBD-SS) contract located in -Huntsville, AL.

An IBD-SS GDIT Configuration Manager will lead the team within systems engineering team responsible for changes to documentation, technical drawings, and technical drawing organization. The CM will document processes and work with the customer and other engineering teams to build consensus to follow the processes. The successful candidate will draw upon previous experience and will work with the entire systems engineering team to provide consistent high-quality support and timely response to system and obsolescence issues.

An IBD-SS Senior Configuration Manager will:

  • Acts as primary liaison between Program Management and other functional groups and resolves any issues regarding configuration management documentation.

  • Manages/oversees configuration and change management process and activities for Quick Reaction Capability programs.

  • Responsible for the employment, training, motivation, and discipline of direct reports.

  • Lead changes to organize an existing body of knowledge using a Product Data Management tool.

  • Develop and maintain PM FPS product configuration documentation and architecture libraries, and processes necessary for management support, and reporting of systems and networks

  • Identify and coordinate processes for version management, system build, backup and recovery, archiving, and change management.

  • Work with government-designated configuration management specialists to monitor and control change review processes.

  • Support and facilitate auditing and reporting.

  • Oversee baseline configurations for applications, software, and hardware assets.

  • Participates in government CCB meetings and offers subject matter expertise to PdM FPS stakeholders.

  • Coordinate with the customer with complex or voluminous documentation to analyze and organize design specifications for hardware and related software and license configurations as implemented and approved by the PdM FPS customer representative.

  • Evaluate, update, and maintain PdM FPS product configuration documentation and architecture libraries, and processes necessary for management support, and reporting of systems and networks

  • Review technical documentation for the project’s hardware and software to include installation, configuration, and how-to documentation

  • Define and document requirements to update configuration data management processes and procedures for use throughout the PdM FPS program

  • Work with government-designated configuration management specialists to monitor and control change review processes.

  • Work closely with other systems engineers to develop and review documents for Business Processes, Requirements Analysis, Configuration Management, Technical Risk, and Engineering Change Reports in accordance with customer specifications.

Desirable Skills / Experience:

  • Experience leading teams of five or more people to achieve team goals and objectives.

  • Knowledge of the processes and procedures related to configuration management and product lifecycle management in the DoD

  • Relevant and related military/government experience performing IT configuration management support is required.

  • Knowledge of the function of and ability to use Product Lifecycle Management Tools

  • Knowledge of the organization’s products and services, customer requirements, purpose and structure of required documentation, and end user’s level of understanding are highly desired

  • Effective communications skills are required

Education Required:

  • BA/BS + 8-12 years relevant experience (15 years’ experience in lieu of a degree)

Security Clearance:

  • US Secret security clearance required (day one)
