Principal Systems Engineer (Special Operations Command)

ARMA-Global desires a qualified candidate to serve as Principal Systems Engineer that will lead a team Engineers in the Design, Development, Engineering, Integration, Testing and Implementation and Sustainment of critical technologies for the United States Air Force Special Operations Command.

Responsibilities:

As the Principal Systems Engineer supporting the Architecture and Network Engineering program, the candidate will report directly to the Program Manager and will work closely with a team of dedicated multi-disciplined professionals in supporting customer mission objectives. You'll be responsible for working with coworkers, partners, stakeholders and customer representatives to create effective solutions, providing support to organizational Development & Engineering projects to deliver next-generation technologies across a wide-range of services and emerging capabilities, culminating in the delivery of unparalleled sustainment of services that enhance customer mission effectiveness.

In this role you will:

• Ensure the presence of a System of Systems engineering approach that makes success possible – tools, techniques, methods, knowledge, standards, principles, and concepts
• Assist Program Management and Project Managers in analyzing and managing complexity and risk
• Mentor and advise personnel on engineering related topics
• Be at the heart of creating successful new systems; responsible for the system of systems concept, architecture, and design
• Analyze and manage complexity and risk
• Be responsible for managing risk, decomposing requirements, integrating software and hardware, verification and validation processes, and project leadership
• Commit to staying abreast of both emerging technologies and evolving customer goals and objectives
• Engage with stakeholders and supporting teams, ensuring customer expectations, satisfaction, risks and cost is managed
• Guide Development, Integration, Testing and sustainment activities to increase service availability, resilience, and readiness
• Adhere to standards, policies, protocols, procedures and best practices that embody a “Best of Breed” Engineer
• Participate in architectural and design discussions
• Participating in strategic engagements and events, as required
• Brief stakeholders on planned and active projects and activities

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Requires mastery of basic systems engineering principles, including transdisciplinary and integrative approaches
• The ability to systems into a comprehensive ecosystem of interdependent capabilities and the ability to understand how the dependencies impact systems within the ecosystem
• Extensive experience and working knowledge of one or more operating systems
• Extensive experience with automated testing, including Unit, Regression, Performance and Load Testing
• Familiarity with automation frameworks (e.g., Ansible, Chef, etc.)
• Demonstrable experience in Networking technologies (Enterprise IT, SCADA, ABMS)
• Excellent communication skills
• Exhibit patience and understanding when working with customers
• Ability to provide technical guidance and leadership
• Understanding of DoDAF 2.0 Architectures
• Extensive knowledge of Project Management Principles
• Basic understanding of Agile Frameworks (e.g., Scrum, Kanban, etc.)
• Model Based Systems Engineering experience highly desired

Security Requirements:

• Must have a SECRET clearance with the ability to obtain an SCI (TS/SCI)

Work Environment:

• Work environment is administrative office

Education, Certification and Experience Requirements:

• BS of Computer, Electrical, Environmental, or Mechanical Engineering/Science, or an equivalent combination of education and technical experience
• 15+ years of Engineering practice in the DoD and/or Commercial industries
• Professional Engineering (PE) Licensure or INCOSE Certified Systems Engineer Professional (CSEP) certification highly desired. 
• 8570.01M IAM Level-2 certification required
