GDIT is seeking a Network Project Engineer to help support our Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) IT Project Management Services (ITPMS) program in Alexandria, VA. This is a full-time onsite position .


This Network Project Engineer will be part of a team of individuals supporting the DISA Bandwidth Optimization office. Project tasks include:

  • Research circuit requirements using DISA tools such as DSF, WWOLS, and IIEx

  • Meet with telecommunications service providers to understand their capabilities and limitations in meeting the customer circuit requirements.

  • Utilize network investigation and planning tools to identify options for circuit ordering and delivery.

  • Develop proposed solution options to meet DISA requirements.

  • Meet with the customer, record tasks, ensure that deliverables resulting from tasks are developed on time and with high quality.

  • Interface with the customer for status reporting and other project management functions.

  • Analyzes customer requirements and provides technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems.

  • Performs maintenance and upgrade of networks including servers, routers, switches, firewalls, remote access systems, and networks.

  • Maintains network integrity and connectivity while ensuring compliance with policies and maintains system backup and recovery capability.

  • Coordinates the acquisition of hardware and software as well as subcontractor services as needed.

  • Creates plans and configures systems for data communication networks.

  • Evaluates new communications technologies to enhance capabilities of the network.

  • Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned.

  • Designs and builds the hardware and software components for computer or telecommunications networks.

  • Provides guidance and leadership to less-experienced network personnel.

Required Qualifications:

  • Active (or Interim) DoD Secret (Candidates without a clearance will be considered contingent upon their ability to complete the clearance process.)

  • Bachelor of Arts or Science Degree

  • 5+ years experience in planning, constructing and managing networks

  • 5+ years DISA circuit or implementation experience

  • Hands-on experience in performing research and functional analysis

  • Familiarity with DISA processes and procedures.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Active Secret or Top Secret clearance

  • Experience with circuit engineering design and implementations
