GDIT is looking for a Senior System Administrator with experience managing secure information systems, establishing user accounts, and baselining workstations (Windows 10 with hypervisor virtual machines) and Windows servers (2019 with remote desktop services), and supporting operational level analysis of test and production systems. Support the development, testing, and deployment of specialized laptops, applications, network enclaves, and end-to-end telecommunication systems, when required. Capable of developing administration scripts for managing server logs, backup systems, and monitoring server health. This individual will be responsible for managing fielded servers/workstations and scripts which are operationally focused to meet both quick reaction and strategic changes to customer IT objectives. Majority of work will be performed in Reston and Chantilly. O&M requires maintaining custom system(s) with current security patches, anti-virus protection, and up-to-date Windows operating systems.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • TS/SCI with polygraph

  • BS/BA and 5 years of technical experience OR equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Windows Server 2016/2019

  • Windows 10 Pro

  • Windows Server Update Service (WSUS)

  • Microsoft SharePoint 2016

  • Standalone systems (i.e., non-enterprise)

  • Anti-virus scanning/updates (e.g., McAfee, other)

  • Experience with system security accreditation

  • Domain Name Services (DNS)

  • Creating and managing user accounts with Active Directory Services

  • Managing data access restrictions in Active Directory using Group Policies

  • Some networking experience (Cisco HW preferred); switches/routers

  • VMware and Hyper-V hypervisors

  • Thorough understanding of TCP/IP

  • Practical experience with OpenVPN and IPSec tunneling

  • Server hardware (e.g., Dell PowerEdge series)

  • Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and performance-tuning skills

  • Ability to follow good engineering and programming practices, build workflows

  • Excellent written communication skills, articulate and proactive

  • Strong team player and independent contributor

  • Communicate effectively with peers and support staff to highlight and clarify software and system design elements

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

  • Linux kernel development, esp. in networking and packet filtering

  • GIT revision control software

  • Managing Linux images (i.e. Ubuntu, Fedora)
