Mechanical Engineer -- Kuwait (Secret Clearance Required)

GDIT has an exciting opportunity available for a Generator Mechanical Engineer supporting our Depot Level Maintenance and repair program for Tactical Power Generation and Environmental Control Units (ECUs) in Kuwait.  Must have a current and active Secret Clearance. Transferable Kuwaiti residence 18 Visa. The role requires day to day performance of troubleshooting, fault isolation and field maintenance repair for a variety of power commercial generation equipment; other military design generators and Environmental Control Units (ECUs). This position can require the conduct of work in the outdoors with a potential exposure to extreme climatic conditions including frequent dust storms, and high temperatures – up to 130F degrees in the summer months.

Role Responsibilities:

• Performs sustainment maintenance on 2-kW to 150-kW tactical power generators to include advanced medium mobile power sources generators involving installation and removal of generators from fixed and mobile locations, troubleshoots and rebuilds engines, alternate current (AC) systems, direct current (DC) systems, electronic control systems and other program logic controls, electrical wiring and accessories.
• Perform all aspects of mechanical and electronic systems troubleshooting and repair.
• Develop integration plans and perform hardware integrations.
• Read and interpret schematic and engineering drawings and diagrams.
• Performs inspections of system components, preventive maintenance, testing and troubleshooting of modules and circuit cards to the lowest replaceable unit (LRU)/component.
• Perform operational test and return to service checks.
• Perform logistic support requirements such as research, and equipment and spare part inventories.
• Maintain strong attention to detail.
• Maintain a positive attitude and work as a member of a cohesive team as well as independently.
• Interact with all levels of the organization in a professional, diplomatic, and tactful way. 
• Multi-task efficiently and work in a fast pace environment on multiple projects.
• Work with minimal supervision, documents maintenance tasks via local or web- based reporting system, provides system functional briefings to customer and supervisor.
• Performs all other duties assigned.
• May be required to go TDY to multiple locations within SWA.
• Majority of time spent providing repairs in a shop environment and at the customer location.
• Maintain thorough knowledge of, actively practice, and promote safe working conditions.
• Proactively contribute to the company’s policy of continuous improvement.
• Carry out any additional duties requested by the RSC Team.
• Complete necessary paper work which may include data entry and general use of relevant computer systems and software as directed.

The Ideal Candidate must have:

• An active U.S. Government SECRET clearance.
• 3 to 8 years’ proven experience in industrial or commercial field service, maintenance, overhauling of diesel engine, diesel generators, mechanical/electrical systems, HVACs, and hydraulic equipment.
• Candidate must have 2+ years remaining on passport.
• Passport must obtain 6 blank pages together.
• Thorough knowledge of and capability in reading and understanding schematics.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals to include blue prints and technical drawings.

The Ideal Candidate will have:

• BS or equivalent Military/Technical Experience. One-year related experience may be substituted for one year of education.
• Demonstrated experience performing Gasoline/Diesel Engine rebuild and Dynameter testing of rebuilt engines.
• Two years in troubleshooting, fault finding, and repair of electrical equipment.
• Working knowledge of electrical systems including secondary distribution and interior systems.
• Knowledge of generator parallel systems.
• Experience with the use of common hand and powered tools, fixtures, templates, and associated refurbishment and modification equipment.
• Experience in working in hostile and austere environments.
• Experience in stock control and asset management.
• Master level, preferably in a mechanical maintenance field or equivalent experience.

Desirable Skills/Qualifications:

• Industry and trade certifications. Preference given for military certifications/experience.
• A graduate of the US Army Tactical Power Generation Equipment Repairer (MOS 91D) Course or a graduate of a technical school or manufacturers course of instruction.
• Experience in a forward-facing customer support role.
• Hands-on experience with electrical circuits, power cables, controls, and motors.
• Knowledge of U.S. Army Safety Guidelines and OSHA Standards.
• Transferable Kuwaiti residence 18 Visa
