Job Description

Responsible for performing as a Senior Database Base Analyst for Microsoft SQL solutions in both NIPR and SIPR, QA and production environments. Must be local to the Charleston, SC area.

Responsibilities:

  • Participates in the design, maintenance, enhancement, coding, and administration of relational databases
  • Performs day-to-day SQL administration; maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, ensuring data availability
  • Performs Database Backup and Recovery functions as needed
  • Installs SQL SW, Instances and perform upgrades and patching as needed
  • Writes/maintains SQL scripts and processes as needed
  • Creates indexes to enhance performance
  • Designs/implements data transfer processes needed to support upgrades or movement to from different physical/virtual Machine/OS
  • Authors/maintains System Security Plans, white papers and change management proposals, SOPs
  • Creates, manages and performs troubleshooting Windows Clustering and SQL Server high-availability solutions
  • Creates and monitors SQL Server Policy Objects
  • Analyzes and determines information needs and elements, data relationships and attributes, data flow and storage requirements, and data output and reporting capabilities. 
  • Coordinates new data development ensuring consistency and integration with existing data warehouse structure. 
  • Monitors Ticketing System queue for DBA assignments
  • Participates in continuous improvement efforts in enhancing performance and providing increased functionality, including performing proactive maintenance such as ensuring continued space availability, monitoring activity, and documenting problems, changes, and solutions. 
  • Assignments may include design of data dictionaries, database structure and layout, installing, upgrading, and managing database applications. 
  • May provide guidance and work leadership to less-experienced Analysts. 
  • Stay current on vendors' best security practices in relation to organizational requirements.
  • Maintains current knowledge of relevant technologies as assigned.
  • Monitors SQL Event Logs and use to identify/troubleshoot issues
  • Creating and managing SQL Server Maintenance Plans for routine tasks and backup solutions as well as ability to create, troubleshoot and monitor SQL Server Agent jobs
  • Reviews database jobs, backup logs, user connections and system memory
  • Reviews performance information for SQL instances
  • Completes STIG Checklists for SQL servers

Education:

  • Bachelor Degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience required.

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server in Microsoft clusters.
  • Hands-on STIG/SCAP experience required.
  • Active DOD Secret clearance required; SSBI required. or Top Secret
  • Current Security+ certification required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Microsoft SQL 2012+ and MySQL administration
  • Microsoft Operating Systems (Windows Server 2008/2012, Windows 10 SHB, etc.) a plus
  • T-SQL scripting knowledge
  • PowerShell a plus
  • Understanding of IT Security best practices to meet DOD STIGs

Salary and Benefit Information

The likely salary range for this position is $84,000 - $126,000, this is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary; rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
