Job Description

HOW A CONTAINERIZATION PRINCIPAL ARCHITECT WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:

  • Responsible for overall Docker & Kubernetes setup, configuration and Architecture.  Architecting, Configuring and maintaining/ supporting a large-scale Docker based environment using Kubernetes.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues within the Docker and Kubernetes environment.
  • Ensure proper operational aspects including monitoring, reporting, backup for both Docker hosts and associated images and containers.
  • Help develop and maintain automated processes, tools, and documentation in support of Docker.
  • Helping instantiate applications and databases within a containerized infrastructure, to include working with and supporting databases such as Postgres.
  • Working with NGinx, HAProxy, or other internal proxying solutions to address networking in a container solution environment.
  • Enabling and mentoring software teams to be successful with building containerized applications on Kubernetes.
  • Defining and enforcing best practices for containerization implementations.
  • Designing and building application modernization solutions for the agency and oversee teams performing migrations and application refactoring.
  • Ensuring that containerization infrastructure is properly secured and compliant with industry standards and regulations.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

  • Education: MS in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related technology field (Experience may be substituted for education)
  • Required Experience: 12+ years of relevant experience supporting projects of similar size, scope and complexity; experience standing up and delivering new Kubernetes platform solutions to end customers; applied knowledge of modern software delivery methods and tools like test-driven development (TDD), domain-driven design (DDD), 12 Factor App, DevSecOps, and CI or CD; solid experience with Linux, preferably Ubuntu.  Kubernetes administration experience, including installation, configuration, and troubleshooting.  Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.  Experience in creating and managing production scale Kubernetes clusters, Deep understanding of Kubernetes networking.
  • Required Technical Skills: DoD 8570 IAT II certification required within six months of assignment
  • Security Clearance Level: Active Top Secret and SCI Eligibility
  • Required Skills and Abilities: Highly motivated, self-starter with great communications skills; effective problem solver; able to thrive in a fast-paced, changing environment
  • Location: On Customer Site, Washington, District of Columbia
