GDIT is seeking a senior database administrator in Falls Church, VA, to work with other database administrators on day-to-day tasks. In this role, you will perform database administration functions for GDIT’s contract to support the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) Priority Telecommunications Services (PTS) program, delivered through telecommunications service providers’ public networks. The PTS program provides priority voice, video, and data communications to the National Security/Emergency Preparedness community in times when public telecommunications networks are experiencing stress due to natural or man-made disasters, such as hurricanes, earthquakes, terrorist attacks, or other acts of war.
Must be a U.S. Citizen
Must be able to obtain/maintain a DHS EOD and a Secret clearance
Job Specific Qualifications:
Minimum 6+ years of experience working as Microsoft SQL Server Database Administrator
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Design, implement, and administer databases including security, access, and documentation
Provide expert-level design and development of SQL databases
Identify and direct information needs and elements, data relationships and attributes, data flow and storage requirements, and data output and reporting capabilities
Review business requests for data and data usage and research data sources for new and better data feeds/ingestions
Continuously enhance the system’s performance and provide increased functionality, including through proactive maintenance such as ensuring continued space availability, monitoring activity, and documenting problems, changes, and solutions.
Assignments may include data dictionaries, database structure, ETL, reports, layout, installing, upgrading, access control, data migration, synchronization, security, and managing database applications.
Experience with and knowledge of Microsoft Azure cloud a big plus
Ability to work independently as well as in cross-functional teams and willingness to learn new technologies, accept new duties, and support a dynamic work environment.
Willingness to work outside of business hours to support releases, emergency situations, and as required.
Strong database troubleshooting/bug fixing skills and the ability to isolate and resolve database issues in time-sensitive requests
Ability to resolve issues with minimal downtime and data loss.
Experience with SQL database administration and development, and knowledge of data and database principles and best practices to maintain the health and security of the system.
Ability to write complex and optimized queries, optimize and enhance processes, and increase the system’s reliability and efficiency.
