Job Description

GDIT is looking for a full time Sr. Business Analyst/Tester whose primary role will be to gather business requirements, create acceptance criteria, create wireframes, a team player that communicates efficiently with the stakeholders and the development team on the details of the requirements, tests and demonstrates developed features to stakeholders and coordinates deployment to various environments.

This resource will play a senior systems analyst role in the implementation of on-premise and cloud-based solutions. The resource will work closely with the Project Manager in developing a schedule for various releases with milestones and updating the schedule, risks, mitigation and issues as needed.

The resource will also act as a scrum master (when authorized by the PM) to run the daily status meetings with development team and update/document accurate status including impediments, blockers, dependencies in the tool, JIRA. The resource will act as the go to person for requirements throughout the life cycle of the project and will be interacting with the client stakeholders on a regular basis.

The resource analyzes and evaluates user needs and identifies resources required for each task to design, develop, and implement complex systems designed to meet client requirements. This will require the resource to conduct release and sprint planning sessions with the team. The resource is expected to have requirements (epics/user stories and associated acceptance criteria) documented in JIRA at least 3-4 weeks prior to development begin date. The resource is expected to be cognizant of the project schedule to meet the delivery dates and the deliverables.

The resource will need have prior experience using JIRA as it is used as the primary tool used to create epics, user stories, tasks, sub tasks and other relevant JIRA issue types. The resource tests developed systems based on the acceptance criteria created for user stories.

The resource will closely work with the Project and the Program Manager before committing to any new requirements to the client and stakeholders that may be considered out of scope for the project. The resource will maintain requirements and acceptance criteria in JIRA and will adhere to the already defined agile development processes that are currently being followed by the client.

The resource is expected come up to speed within a couple of weeks to have an in-depth understanding of the currently deployed application and associated components. This task is critical and important to perform in this role.

The resources analyzes data requirements to determine data source and destinations; coordinates with client to define problem, determine data availability, report requirements, and resolve system design problems; creates logical data models based on functional requirements; performs quality review of specifications for internal and external delivery; troubleshoots and provides functional support and solutions to users; updates and maintains all contractually obligated deliverable documents.

Other activities include participating in various meetings (as required and needed) with other teams and members to understand inter-dependent tasks to meet the deliverables.

Ensure technical development team delivers efficient and effective system solutions to support business goals and objectives.

Prepare and present test plan, functional presentations, and analyst briefings as needed.

Minimum Experience and required qualifications: BA/BS (or equivalent experience) and must have a minimum of eight years of computer experience working independently or under general direction on complex application problems involving all phases of systems analysis. At least five years’ experience in analysis and design of business applications for complex, large-scale or mid-tier computer systems or Local Area Network (LAN)-based systems.

Desired Skills, Experience and Certification:

  • Experience working in web-based IT systems
  • Certified Scrum Master or PMP certification
  • Experience using JIRA and knowledge of Agile methodology
