We are seeking a Financial Analyst Advisor to join our team, based in our Herndon location (currently the position is remote.)
This individual will be responsible for performing specialized financial, accounting or planning activities following general project or departmental guidelines, procedures in support of various functions such as monthly reporting, monthly estimates and recommendations, budgeting, auditing and financial planning. Full life cycle support of the programs assigned. Ensuring we meet both customer and corporate deliverables. For analysis, will determine the cost of operations by establishing standard costs; and collecting operational data. Will work to improve financial status by analyzing results; monitoring variances; identifying trends; recommending actions to management. Will reconcile transactions by comparing and correcting data. Completing all deliverables on time and ensuring the program is on target to meet the goals of the customer and corporate operational and finance goals.
Other responsibilities will include:
Handling complex tasks in various financial functions such as monthly reporting, processing administrative tasks as needed, ECPs (moderate amount of proposal work), budgeting, auditing, forecasting and analysis.
Lead the creation of monthly and quarterly financial business review to provide insight into business. Monthly advising of the internal customers to include reporting on monthly customer deliverables, PMRs, etc.
Prepare monthly forecast, risk assessment and variance analysis to senior management. Work closely with Operations for accurate staffing estimates and ensure accurate reporting internally for budgets and externally for customer deliverables.
Prepare financials for monthly close and forecasting process. Ensure all actions are taken on time for a successful close.
Analyze both the monthly forecast and current quarter and future projections.
Act as focal point for communication of financials to the corporate finance team as well as operations team. The analyst will be that confident advisor to the program teams.
Develop long-range financial models in collaboration with the management team. Excel is used for reporting and strong Excel skills are needed to be able to process a large amount of data as well as able to utilize that data and forecasting information from operations to ensure excellent estimates for both customer and internal reporting.
May have risk identification and recovery responsibilities. Compliance with risk using the cost models, and internal reporting to ensure all risk is advised, approved and communicated to all parties required by financial policy.
Ensures compliance with internal policies and procedures, as well as other government regulations.
Maintains current knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.
Ensure subsidiary readiness for year-end audit, monthly updated checks to ensure accuracy and superior reporting is maintained.
Provide financial leadership to the business, helping drive profitable growth.
Manage revenue and cost adjustment submission, ensuring accuracy and review of proper back up information. Work with operations team to ensure charging is timely and accurate and provide guidance on best known knowledge on program(s).
Collaborate across organizations/functions including sales, operations, line of business and project management, contracts, accounts payable, billing, accounts receivable and all other teams as needed to ensure timely completion of all deliverables and support needed.
Monitor and assess financial impact changes of Indirect rates, rate pools, and allocations. Ensure proper communication of impacts on estimates.
Provides guidance and leadership to less-experienced financial analysts.
May serve as a team or task leader. (Not a people manager)
Support the financial manager of the business area with ad hoc reporting and as needed tasks. Ensure at the advisor level that experience is needed in both government contracting, monthly reporting, estimating capabilities, ability to learn financial systems, customer communication, and the ability to model, understand and explain financial impacts, metrics, data and information.
To be considered for this role, candidates must have the following:
Bachelor's degree in related field (finance, accounting, etc.) plus 8 years related industry experience (in lieu of degree, candidates must have 12 years' total related years experience;)
Ability to obtain a security clearance (but it is NOT required to have one currently;)
Strong MS Excel skills
Strong ability to work on multiple projects at the same times
Commitment to ensuring program deliverables are completed on time and successfully/accurately.
Government contracting experience, including client facing;
