GDIT is seeking a Technical Director / Training Capability Lead for our Defense Growth organization to help drive the technical solutions and innovation needed to win and execute our most complex and strategic deals.  You will be responsible for determining our customers’ needs and priorities, crafting technical solutions responsive to those needs, helping to shape customer acquisitions, overseeing technical program execution, driving organic growth through innovation and positioning GDIT as a leader in the market. 

You will lead a team of solutions architects and technologists in the sector to engineer all solutions and deliver our written and oral technical proposals. You will also oversee the current program portfolio to ensure technical excellence in delivery and facilitate organic growth through innovation. Key Responsibilities include:

Pursuit/Capture/Proposal leadership:

  • Lead a team of the top solutions architects in the Sector to develop solutions for our extensive next generation IT pipeline for the DoD.

  • Coach solutions architects on technical strategies, proposal and solution development, and develop top technical talent within the technical growth organization.

  • Oversee technical solution strategy throughout the Capture and Proposal lifecycle, from early Qualification through Proposal submission

  • Contribute to GDIT win strategies and lead the development of technical win themes and solution readiness plans

  • Engage current and prospective customers to understand critical needs, socialize and vet solutions, and advise on strategies to shape acquisitions that achieve desired results

  • Identify and select the best technical solutions and approaches to meet anticipated or actual acquisition requirements

  • Oversee solution design and the development of key artifacts including, but not limited to architectural models, process diagrams, concepts of operation, etc.

  • Develop unsolicited technical recommendations, collateral and RFI/SSN responses to engage prospective customers and position GDIT to win

  • Collaborate with GDIT technical service areas and lines of business to identify and bring the best technical and business strategies and solutions to differentiate GDIT

  • Contribute to teaming strategies including identifying and vetting potential partners

  • Develop cost strategies, BOEs/BOMs, and associated rationale

  • Oversee readiness of solution and proposal support team to prepare a compelling and compliant response to the government’s solicitation

  • Oversee development of the Technical volumes and orals presentations for proposals

  • Coach and advise more junior solution architecture and proposal support resources

  • Review proposals and provide critical feedback needed to strengthen our solution and proposals

  • Author Technical volume introductions, key sections and orals slides including developing compelling graphics

Technical Program leadership

  • Provide technical leadership to a portfolio of ~100 programs/projects.

  • Implement systematic program innovation plans to improve client mission performance and program cost

  • Proactively engage in troubled programs to improve program performance and maintain high client satisfaction

  • Communicate across a network of top talent in the Training portfolio to provide mentorship, technical advice, and new career opportunities.

  • Perform directly on strategic programs to lead engineering practices, achieve program/client objectives, and position the team for future growth.

  • Conduct independent technical investigations in systems design.

  • Analyze and resolve program support deficiencies.

  • Work with clients and program managers to ensure proper resourcing and skill sets needed for successful project execution.

  • Create accurate and clear technical documentation to include engineering design plans, implementation plans, system security plan, and test plans.

  • Develop support processes and procedures; Operational training and support hand-off to peers and other organizational units.

As the Technical Director, you will have the:

  • Ability to thrive in a highly collaborative, fast-paced, growth-focused environment

  • Ability to motivate teams to perform exceptionally over long stretches of time (during capture) and in challenging situations (during proposal development and fast paced program execution)

  • Ability to effectively engage current and prospective customers to build trust and relationships, clearly communicate solutions and concepts, and influence action

  • Ability to conceptualize and communicate technical concepts to senior management and clients

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology or related field (preferred)

  • 10+years of experience with US Department of Defense

  • Experience with technical leadership and project management

  • Experience navigating the DoD acquisition community and knowledge of its components across all services.

  • Experience in design, delivery, and operations and maintenance of DoD IT systems.

  • Experience successfully architecting technical solutions and leading/authoring federal pursuits and proposals

  • Experience working in one or more IT domains that may include software development, IT infrastructure services, cloud, cyber security, data management services

  • Experience with technical leadership and project management

  • Experience managing the designing and integrating a wide range of applications and systems in a DOD enterprise environment.

  • Experience in a wide variety of program types, system architectures, and technical capabilities.

  • Willingness to travel (up to 30%)

  • Ability to obtain a TS clearance

Desired Qualifications

  • Active Secret / Top Secret (TS) or higher.

  • Business-focused problem solver with an understanding of state-of-the-art information technologies.

  • Knowledge of DoD contracting requirements and Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR).

  • Creative thinking, problem solving, time management and organizational skills

  • Red Team leadership experience

  • Orals leadership and coaching experience

  • Basis of Estimate and competitive estimation strategy
