The Navy Navigation Seamanship Ship-handling Training (NSST) systems program is looking for a Cyber Engineer with a background in complex systems environments to join their team. The NSST is a computerized bridge simulator that allows sailors to practice ship handling, navigation, and visual information skills in a controlled environment.
This position resides in Orlando, FL.
The NSST program performs cyber scans and give authorization to operate certificates before government acceptance of trainers. This position will be responsible for implementing and monitoring necessary security controls to issue and maintain an Authorization to Operate (ATO). You will track and maintain certification information databases, websites and tools to ensure that networks, systems and devices are properly documented and managed from a security perspective. You will perform automated vulnerability scans via the Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS) and assist in determining the implementation status of applicable security controls.
Other duties include:
Conducts software and systems engineering and software systems research to ensure cybersecurity is fully integrated.
Familiar with DISA, STIGs, and SRGs.
Evaluates information system security throughout the systems development life cycle.
Assesses the impact of scans and reports to senior management.
Tests, implements, deploys, maintains, and administers the infrastructure hardware and software
Conducts risk assessment and provides recommendations for application design.
Responsible for a wide range of security issues including architectures, firewalls, electronic data traffic, and network access.
Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
Troubleshoots system hardware and software issues.
Trains end users on the proper use of hardware and software.
Performs basic software installations and upgrades to operating systems and layered software packages.
Monitors and tunes systems to achieve optimum performance levels.
Conducts basic hardware and software audits of workstations and servers to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines.
Ensures that performance and security of computers meet the needs of network users.
May evaluate existing systems and assist with planning long-term strategies
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
BS Degree; additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree
2+ years of experience with cyber security functions including DISA, STIGs, and SRGs
US citizenship; must be able to obtain Secret clearance
