At GDIT, people are our differentiator. A Java-AWS Developer is needed to provide support for a critical mission system. In this role, a typical day will include: Performing on all phases of the software development lifecycle. Analyzing user/business needs and functionality to plan and design software systems to meet those needs. Providing guidance for less-experienced software developers in creating a variety of models and diagrams that show programmers the software code needed for an application. Performing and providing guidance on software updates, refinement, testing, and debugging to meet business needs. Providing relevant analysis for reports on software project specifications, activities, or status. Thoroughly documenting the software or system process for future maintenance and updates. Providing guidance and work leadership to less-experienced analysts.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:

Required Skills

  • Demonstrated proficiency in programming with Java.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver solutions using a cloud service (AWS, Azure, GCP, etc).
  • Demonstrated experience with RESTful interfaces.
  • Demonstrated experience with Apache Tomcat.
  • Demonstrated experience with version control systems (GitHub) and continuous integration systems (Jenkins).
  • Demonstrated experience with build automation tools (Gradle, Maven).
  • Demonstrated experience with Agile development methodologies and test driven development (JUnit).
  • Demonstrated experience with Linux and/or Unix.
  • BA/BS degree (or equivalent work experience), 3+ years of experience

Desired Skills

  • Demonstrated experience with the Java Spring framework.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in programming with Python.
  • Demonstrated experience with IdAM services.
  • Demonstrated experience with front-end web development (Angular, React, Vue, etc.
  • Demonstrated experience exhibiting oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated experience working in a team environment.
  • BS or MS degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or experience that would provide equivalent knowledge of computer science fundamentals in object-oriented design, data structures, and algorithm design.
