GDIT’s Military Health Team is hiring a Research Scientist in support of the Traumatic Brain Injury Center of Excellence (TBICoE) located on the Fort Carson Army post in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
As the traumatic brain injury (TBI) Pathway of Care manager within the Military Health System (MHS), the TBICoE promotes state-of-the-science care from point-of-injury to reintegration for service members, veterans, and their families to prevent and mitigate consequences of mild to severe TBI. The Research Scientist will operate as an independent scientist on a research team. S/he will be responsible for leading efforts and/or collaborating with others to develop quantitative research projects that answer mission-aligned research questions. This will include formulating experimental hypotheses, designing and implementing experimental methods, creating study protocols, analyzing and interpreting study data, and disseminating study results through written reports, conference abstracts, and manuscripts submitted to scientific journals.
What You’ll Be Doing:
Responsible for leading and/or assisting the development of clinical research investigations/studies and carrying out those projects.
Developing and submitting funding proposals for research projects.
May serve as Principal Investigator on research projects.
Assists with formulating experimental hypotheses and study designs.
Assists with applying statistical techniques to analyze and interpret study data.
Collaborates with TBICoE local research team and larger research network to execute research projects.
Prepares documents, written reports, manuscripts for submission to scientific journals, and completes other projects as needed.
Provides collaborative assistance to other research scientists, study coordinators, and research assistants.
What You’ll Need (required):
Ph.D. or MD in related scientific discipline.
6+ years of research experience required, including experience conducting research with traumatic brain injury or similar clinical samples.
Demonstrated history of successful grant funding and abstract/manuscript publications.
Knowledge of applicable scientific methods, procedures and techniques.
Ability to troubleshoot technical procedures.
Ability to work independently and supervise others working for this contract.
US Citizenship with the ability to pass a T3/ NACLC security investigation.
What Would Be Even Better (highly preferred):
Prior experience within the DoD/VA healthcare system(s) strongly preferred.
Familiarity with basic and advanced statistical analysis techniques
Familiarity with biomedical and/or psychophysiological data collection and analysis.

This position requires being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by December 8, 2021 or the start date, if after December 8.
The likely salary range for this position is $88,000 - $132,000, this is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary; rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
