GDIT is currently looking to hire an Associate Network Engineer to support our client in Annapolis Junction, MD. The Network Engineer brings specialized skills and focuses on technical aspects of vendor data center network architecture and operations. The engineer will work daily alongside engineering staff at site to become thoroughly familiar with unique processes and requirements relative to the DOD specific configurations and challenges. Engineer will assist in the overall performance, deployment, and maintenance of global data center network environment. Engineer will work alongside of fellow engineering team members to mentor, knowledge share, and develop new DCN solutions.
Typical Network Engineer activities include:
Analyzing network configurations
Assisting with network inventory tracking and management
Perform regular system maintenance in support of IAVA vulnerabilities/CCRI compliance/code upgrades
Multiple opportunities to learn new technologies and diversify technical expertise
Reviews PCAP data for network troubleshooting and optimization
Troubleshooting connectivity issues and supporting operations
Developing network operating procedures
Evaluating technical specifications for interoperability
Assisting in the ongoing definition of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the network and services.
Design/implement/migrate new next generation network solutions
Collaborate w/project manager and frameworks to coordinate/maintain schedule
BS Degree OR equivalent combination of education and experience
Active TS/SCI with a current polygraph
Ability to physically lift 25 pounds, which will be required to move network equipment and running cabling
IAT Level II Certification (Security+ or CCNA Security)
Preferred networking experience with TCP/IP, PCAP, Layer 2/3 networking, SSL
Familiarity with STE/STN and CCRI compliance
Familiarity with troubleshooting connectivity issues for both services and applications
Ability to communicate and collaborate in a team setting
Hours: 40hrs/wk / On-call (some travel may be required)
Obtain certifications as needed
1 year of experience in troubleshooting connectivity issues for both services and applications
Experience supporting Palo Alto Networks products
Experience in designing/deploying/implementing next generation networking solutions and leveraging new technologies for improved security posture
CWIP - IAT level II Compliance:
Persons provide network environment (NE) and advance level compute environment (CE) support. Responsible for finding and fixing unprotected vulnerabilities and ensuring that remote access points are well secured. Focuses on threats and vulnerabilities and improving the security of systems. Demonstrates a mastery of the functions of the IAT Level I position. Monitors, tests and troubleshoots hardware and software IA problems pertaining to the network environment. Recommends and schedules IA related repairs to include performing IA related customer support functions such as installation, configuration, troubleshooting, customer assistance, in response to customer requirements for the network environment (NE). Analyzes patterns of non-compliance and identifies vulnerabilities resulting from a departure from the implementation plan or that were not apparent during testing. Provides leadership and direction to IA operations personnel. Implement applicable patches including IAVAs, and IAVBs for their environment. (Reference: Policy 6-34) for Cyber Workforce Improvement Plan (CWIP).
