GDIT has an opportunity for a dynamic and collaborative Solutions Architect to join our team supporting a Federal customer. GDIT provides fully managed IT services to include telecommunications, service desk, cybersecurity, SOC, backup and recovery, network support, hardware and software asset management, voice and video, engineering and enterprise architecture, cloud integration and application development (future). The United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), headquartered in Alexandria, Virginia is an independent operating bureau within the Department of Commerce, subject to the policy direction of the Secretary of Commerce. The USPTO is responsible for the administration of Intellectual Property (IP) laws, including those relevant to the examination, processing and granting of patents and the registering of trademarks, and the promotion of IP systems as a means of protecting economic prosperity. The USPTO’s focus is on empowered resources who can research, assess, and make decisions on how to advance from concept to delivery. USPTO executives engage to set a high-level strategy and communicate priorities, however, a majority of the decision-making occurs at the working level.Responsible for providing business and technical architectural guidance to development teams, business groups, and customers for existing and new products and services. The solutions architect develops marketing strategies, business concepts, and technical capabilities that maximize customer value while differentiating GDIT from their competition in the marketplace. The solutions architect is responsible for the defining, designing, and implementing the full lifecycle of products and services. Responsible for defining a concept of operations and the procedures and tools required to enable delivery of products and services. Conducts analysis of alternatives on a variety of solutions to determine the best solutions to support overall business goals and objectives.
Supports business by developing technical and business solutions.
Identify solutions based on business and technical criteria, analyzes alternatives based on trade space, and implements designs.
Research current and emerging technologies and process methodologies and proposing changes and tailoring where needed.
Assess the system and business process architectures currently in place and works with staff to recommend improvements.
Ensure technical architecture teams deliver efficient and effective system solutions to support business goals and objectives.
Develop, enhance and maintain established service design procedure and process by applying process frameworks and methodologies.
Prepare and present test plan, technical presentations, and analyst briefings.
Identify customer requirements, analyze alternatives and conduct product recommendations related to software, platform and network configurations.
Provide updates to stakeholders on project cost, schedule, and quality in comparison to stakeholder objectives.
Provides expert guidance and leadership to less-experienced colleagues.
May serve as a task or project leader. (Not a people manager)
Business Development and Proposal writing experience
Strong communication and presentation skills (verbal and written)
Machine Learning and Robotic Process Automation experience are a plus
Passion for learning and for solving problems
BA/BS (or equivalent experience)
20+ years of experience
Prior experience at and knowledge of USPTO
