GDIT is currently seeking a Scala Developer to remotely join our team in support of the Federally Facilitated Marketplace (FFM). The Affordable Care Act (ACA) established Marketplaces where individual consumers can shop for commercially available qualified health plans (QHPs). Additionally, the ACA established the and determine eligibility for coverage and financial FFM as the conduit to facilitate consumer enrollments. The FFM, also known as the Health Insurance Marketplace, consists of the Healthcare.gov website and provides an online application for consumers to apply assistance and a tool to compare and select health plans leading to initiation of enrollment with a health provider.
This position will design, develop, and configure software systems to meet market and/or client requirements either end-to-end from analysis, design, implementation, quality assurance (including testing), to delivery and maintenance of the software product or system or for a specific phase of the lifecycle. In this role, a typical day will include:
Developing Scala/Java based REST APIs based on technical designs.
Applying knowledge of technologies, applications, methodologies, processes, and tools to support a client, project, or entity.
Building and develop according to technical design.
Working with Business Analyst team to identify design gaps and functionality improvements.
Being familiar with any NoSQL database.
Producing estimates for new functionality or enhancements.
Creating and executing unit tests for developed components.
Troubleshooting different environments including production for development issues.
Performing in high pressure environment and under strict deadlines.
Adapting to quickly changing priorities.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED:
Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science or Information Technology from an accredited 4 year college/university
Advanced experience with Scala Programming Language
5+ years’ experience with Java development
Provide functional and/or technical expertise to plan, analyze, define, and support the delivery of future functional and technical capabilities for an application or group of applications.
Assist in facilitating impact assessment efforts and in producing and reviewing estimates for client work requests.
Trained in the following: Java, REST, Gradle, MarkLogic, XML, Xquery, and Redis.
Experience with any functional programming language.
Basic understanding of Agile development methodology and AWS environment.
Ability to analyze Splunk logs and write queries for troubleshooting.
Candidate must be able to obtain Public Trust clearance and must have lived in the United States at least three (3) out of the last five (5) years.
Basic understanding of Scala and Play framework.
Familiarity with Drools, PostMan, and DynamodDb.
NoSQL database experience.
The likely salary range for this position is $92,000 - $138,000, this is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary; rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
