Job Description

Sr. Systems Engineer – Server Virtualization/SAN/Capacity Management – Active Top Secret/SCI Eligibility

Design, manage, and expertly apply the latest technologies to advance the mission as a SENIOR SYSTEMS ENGINEER with GDIT.   • Design virtual storage clusters and physical-to-virtual conversion of servers.

  • Design the environment for High-Availability and Data Recover. 

  • Create virtual machine templates, resource pools and assignment of shares. 

  • Assist with development of disaster recovery plans. 

  • Work with Storage Area Networks (SANs), Network Attached Storage (NAS), and Direct Attached Storage (DAS).

  • Work with both VMWare and Hyper-V virtualization technologies.

  • Work with Windows Server architecture.


  • Education: BS in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Mathematics, or other related scientific or technical discipline required.  MS in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or other related disciplines preferred.

  • Required Experience: 3 – 8 years of relevant experience supporting projects of similar size, scope and complexity. VMWare management/ administration experience. Relevant experience can be substituted for education.

  • Required Technical Skills: DoD 8140/8570 compliance (Sec+, CISSP, etc.)

  • Security Clearance Level: Active Top Secret/SCI Eligibility.  SSBI must have been conducted within the last 51 months.

  • Required Skills and Abilities: Strong oral and interpersonal skills with the ability to multi-task in a fast paced, dynamic environment. Ability to convey conceptual ideas both written and verbally; Strong problem-solving skills

  • Preferred Skills: Reporting such as after-action report/ Incident reports

  • Location: Washington, District of Columbia; limited telework may be available
