Job Description

VMWare Administrator position supporting the Army National Guard (ARNG) in Falls Church, VA. This position requires someone with a current and active Secret clearance.

This is an IT Service Management contract in support of the operation, modernization, expansion, and further evolution of the ARNG’s global Information Technology (IT) services including networking, compute, storage, infrastructure, applications, hosting, and program management services.  The GECOS program supports the ARNG enterprise IT infrastructure, its Wide Area Network (WAN), authentication and directory services, cybersecurity, application hosting, and associated services. GECOS uses ITIL best practices framework as the basis for IT Service Management (ITSM) model.

HOW A VMWARE ADMINISTRATOR WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:

  • Configure, manage and maintain the physical and virtual infrastructure.

  • Perform required maintenance off hours and support 24x7 operations of a large VMware virtual infrastructure in accordance with established schedules and best practices.

  • Implement and maintain ESXi, VM, and VCeneter DISA STIGs

  • Install, configure and integrate servers associated with a VMware virtual infrastructure.

  • Performing backups, troubleshooting and problem resolution for servers associated with a VMware virtual infrastructure.

  • Build highly available server clusters in a vSphere environment.

  • Build and configuring virtual networks.

  • Provide senior level support for maintenance, operation, and configuration of VMware’s Site Recovery Manager and the vRealize Suite.

  • Design, document, test and implement virtual services and devices.

  • Assess and evaluate current virtual computing infrastructure and provide recommendations for enhancements.

  • Create and maintain VM templates used for rapid deployment of virtual machines.

  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures.

  • Create and defend system change requests.

  • Develop, maintain and implement a proactive capacity planning model to support business decisions.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree or 8+ years of relevant experience as a VMWare Administrator

  • Required Experience: 6+ years’ experience with VMWare administration.  

  • Required Technical Skills: Experience building, troubleshooting, and maintaining VMWare environments. Experience and understanding of DoD DISA STIG/SCAP process and implementation. PowerShell experience.

  • Certifications:

    • Must meet DoD IAT Level II IA and baseline certification at start date; CompTIA Security+ ce or higher

    • VMWare certification (ie VCP)

  • Security Clearance Level: SECRET Clearance

  • Required Skills and Abilities: Superb communication skills; strong ability to troubleshoot and multi-task

  • Location: On Customer Site with up to 2 days telework option
