At GDIT, people are our differentiator. As a Database Administrator supporting the customer, you will be trusted to monitor database performance daily. A typical day will include:

  • Participating in daily scrums
  • Finding and debugging malfunctioning programs/code affecting the database integrity


  • Installing and maintaining Oracle database software - NNoSQL such as Cassandra
  • Finding and debugging malfunctioning programs/code affecting the database integrity.
  • Install and test new versions of all database management systems
  • Assist designing and documenting the database architecture.
  • Build database schemes, tables, procedures and permissions.
  • Setup data sharing and disk partitioning.
  • Develop utilities and automatic reporting.
  • Develop data tier architecture and hardware requirements for Linux platforms.
  • Create shell scripts for task automation.
  • Create test and execute SQL data management language variants.
  • Configuring database backups clustering mirroring replication and fail over solutions.
  • Monitor database performance daily.
  • Ensure availability and maximum performance requirements.
  • Consolidate and tune the database for optimal efficiency.
  • Restore and recover corrupted databases. Install and test upgrades and patches.
  • Install and implement security encryption measures.


  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience.
  • Strong written and verbal skills
  • Ability to work well independently and as a member of a team
  • Minimum of 15 years related experience
  • Security Clearance Level: Top Secret/SCI with Polygraph
