  • Designs, develops troubleshoots and analyzes software programs for computer based systems. Performs systems modeling, simulation and analysis.
  • Develops more in-depth documentation, flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, charts, code comments and clear code,
  • Under moderate supervision prepare and install solutions by determining and designing system specifications, standards, and programming.
  • Performs systems modeling, simulation and analysis. Designs and develops basic compilers, assemblers, utility programs and operating systems with some independent judgement.
  • Using moderate independent judgement, develops software solutions by studying information needs; conferring with users; studying systems flow, data usage, and work processes; investigating problem areas; following the software development lifecycle.
  • Provides inputs for documentation of new or existing programs.
  • Applies practical knowledge of job area typically obtained through advanced education and work experience.

Specifically in this role you will:

  • Perform Software Engineering and development evolutions in support of Estimation and Prediction of Orbits and Clocks to a High Accuracy (EPOCHA) program tactical software developing code that provides checks on the GPS constellation.
  • Provide software development support of the EPOCHA software, including the implementation of new features as well as maintaining existing production code. Code in a C++, MySQL, Unix/Linux environment.
  • Perform software coding, debugging and unit testing of software in an Agile environment. Will support GUI development.
  • Communicate design assessments, implementations, test results, and product functionality to program sponsors and senior technical staff.
  • Provide weekly status highlights, participate in Agile/Kanban ceremonies to include Change Review Boards and Retrospectives, and ad-hoc meetings, address action items, provide status and recommendations on issues under scope of work.
  • Utilize JIRA for entering new features/defects and tracking work flow; utilize software revision control tools including Git, GitLab, GitKraken and other tools for the software repository.
  • Utilize Confluence for necessary documentation, including detailed description of requirements.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelors or higher degree from an accredited university in software engineering or computer science.
  • Experience developing software in C++ and Java in a Unix/Linux environment.
  • Experience coding with MySQL or other database development.
  • Active DoD Secret security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience or familiarity of coding in an Agile environment.
  • Experience coding with MySQL or other database development experience.
