JOB DESCRIPTION

GDIT is seeking a professional, energetic, and reliable Software Application Engineer to join the GDIT-ARMA Team. Under general supervision, the individual will be responsible for the design of scalable, elastic, highly available, and fault-tolerant architectures and applications, including mobile. Assist in the integration and re-work of legacy systems and services leveraging established and well-accepted design patterns. Identify and implement solutions to support the accreditation of environments to meet compliance requirements.  Specific focus will be on Android Team Awareness Kit Samsung Tactical-Edition Operating System integration into tactical networks, extending tactical awareness for Special Operations Forces into contingency/bandwidth constrained areas of operation.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Experience with Android Team Awareness Kit (ATAK), and Software Development Kit (SDK)
  • Experience with Mobile Device Management (MDM) solutions (e.g., Enterprise Mobility Management (EMM), VMWare Workspace One, etc.)
  • Experience/knowledge of with Radio Frequency (RF) data transmission systems
  • Familiarity Android OS, iOS, and Linux
  • Familiarity with Android Studio, IntelliJ IDEA, or the like
  • Strong understanding of web-based APIs (e.g., RESTful, SOAP, etc.)
  • Experience in mobile automation frameworks (e.g., Appium, AWS Device Farm, etc.)
  • Exposure to automation engines such as Puppet, Ansible, Chef, or Salt with either the Microsoft Windows Operation System or with Linux-based distros
  • Substantial experience working with one or more common programming languages such as JavaScript, PHP, Python, Objective-C, Swift, and Java
  • Experience using issue tracking tools such as Jira, GitHub, Redmine, Bugzilla, Team Foundations, or similar
  • Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMWare, Docker, etc.)
  • Self-motivating and have the ability to work independently when necessary, but able to work with other on team projects
  • Understanding of Agile Software Development and have used either Kanban or scrum-based scheduling
  • Confidence in configuring and maintaining of a variety of various frameworks and applications such as Node.js, Ruby on Rails, .NET, Apache, Nginx, IIS, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MSSQL, or similar

Certification Requirements

  • DoD 8570 compliant for IAT Level II
  • AWS Associate (e.g., Solutions Architect, Developer, etc.) desired
  • Associate Android Developer Certification highly desired upfront, or within 6-months of development

Qualifications

  • Bachelors of Science Degree in a related discipline OR equivalent number years of related experience and/or technical training
  • 5+ years of demonstrable software development
  • Must have a Secret Clearance to begin work and the ability to obtain a Top-Secret Clearance
