The GDIT Air Defense Communications Service program and its employees have the responsibility of maintaining 99.99% availability for the DOD/Air Force Air Defense Communications Systems; 24 hours a day and 7 days a week; and 365 days a per year. Our work depends on a Configuration Manager joining our team to support ADCS3 activities at Hampton, Virginia.
SCOPE OF ROLE: Manages one or more small to medium sized teams consisting of a few disciplines. Low to Medium Complexity. Direct reports are typically exempt.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Tracking compliance to policies and procedures and resolving / escalating any compliance issues
Configuration Management audits of equipment
Reviews critical incident outage resolution results and responses and dispositions of failed changes due to CMS related issues
Facilitates communication and engages business and IT management to encourage configuration management efforts and value proposition
Engages with strategic projects to ensure Configuration Management can deliver required CMS functionality within project timeframes
Reviews and approves all changes to the CMS infrastructure where applicable
Reviews and approves significant IT infrastructure changes to ensure impacts to configuration management data are properly addressed
Mentors the organization on Configuration Management services, concepts, policies and procedures
Chairs the Configuration Control Board (CCB) and enacts changes as directed
Provides and approves all requirements, use cases, user stories, etc. in support of new or improving functionality of the CMS
Reviews and publishes configuration management reporting.
Prepares complete systems equipment configuration documentation
Oversees the management of systems configuration items
Plans and executes configuration management throughout the lifecycle of a project
Works with various departments to develop configuration management tools
Helps assist in maintenance of CM tools
Manages configuration activities
Acts as primary liaison between Program Management and other functional groups and resolves any issues regarding configuration management documentation
Some desired skills may include:
Proficiency in MS Office Suite
Experience with project management
Knowledge of creating and managing complex databases
Knowledge of configuration management tools such as Rational Synergy
Technical Writing
Background:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, programming or related field.
Previous experience with configuration management required.
