GDIT is seeking Fiber Optic Technicians in Chula Vista, CA to support our Global installation Contract (GIC). GDIT is working on modernization efforts to provide US Navy ships and aircraft as well as US Coast Guard, and Military Sealift Command ships with advanced combat, weapon, and unmanned systems.
As an Electrician, you will:
Install, remove, maintain, modify, troubleshoot, and repair telecommunication equipment . This includes running, pulling, terminating, and splicing cables; installing routers, switches, multiplexors, cable trays.
Provide reports, complete requests for new service, and determine methodology for installing telephone service or other telecommunication technology.
Under direct supervision, determine appropriateness of moderate equipment changes or modifications including call switches, test trunks and test links, and installs communication circuits.
Respond to emergency calls in the event of a system failure.
Make precision adjustments on switches, relays, and other electrical control devices for maximum operating efficiency. Verify services by testing circuits, equipment, and alarms; and identifying, correcting, or escalating problems.
Modify/install power panels, circuit breakers
Validate lockout/tagout for equipment.
HS/GED, 1+ years of experience
Must be able to read and interpret DWGs, schematics/blueprints.
Familiar with NAVSEA standards and ISO requirements.
Must be US Citizen
