General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT) has an immediate opportunity for a Senior Network Engineer with the following duties and responsibilities included (but not limited to):

Position Description

  • Responsibilities include documenting, installing, configuring, troubleshooting and maintaining infrastructure communications hardware and software for USPS OIG network
  • Configuring router and switches for USPS OIG internal data center and satellite sites
  • Monitor, report, troubleshoot and remediate network performance issues
  • Identify diagnoses and resolve network problems
  • Take technical lead of projects for existing USPS OIG network, as well as redesigning network architecture in order to facilitate new business requirements and/or to take advantage of system enhancements
  • Ensure LAN/WAN environment is a secure and appropriate resolution to recovery and redundancy issues
  • Planning and ensuring of a reliable high-performance environment across all components in the USPS OIG network
  • Leading, designing, and implementing the strategic and technical approach of the project
  • Work closely with field operation group and other IT staff
  • Lead evaluation, testing, reporting, and implementation of current and immerging technologies as appropriate to the mission and priorities of the USPS OIG organization. These may include: Integration with Cloud Service Providers (e.g., Azure, AWS, vCloud, etc.) Integration with remote data centers

Position Requirements

  • Ability to lead, plan, organize, implement and direct activities and resources associated with the design, development, installation, and maintenance of enterprise network
  • Demonstrated experience leading a team and being responsible for the success of complex projects with significant IT components
  • Demonstrated ability to determine requirements for, and ensure design, development, implementation, and maintenance of enterprise network
  • Ability to work independently, manages small project implementation across the USPS OIG agency or organization, and coordinates project activities with IT staff
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with other IT staff and managers
  • Ability to perform duties as assigned and help USPS OIG in obtaining and maintaining its mission

Desired Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a technical field such as Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or related fields
  • Advanced degree or advanced studies in converged telecommunications.
  • CCNP or CCNA Certification
  • Strong “can-do” attitude, willing to do whatever it takes to successfully accomplish projects
  • Demonstrated expertise in troubleshooting complex network
  • Prior experience contracting with a government agency
  • Excellent Time Management skills
  • Proven ability to document network topology, and reflect on changes.


  • Candidate will possess at least 8 or more years of specialized experience in routing and switching
  • Candidate will possess at least 6 or more years’ experience serving in the role of senior network administration, dealing with all aspects of installing, configuring and maintaining of enterprise network

Additional Requirements

  • Experience with routing protocols and concepts: BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, VRF, VDC
  • Experience with Cisco routers: ASR1002X, 4331 ISR
  • Experience with Cisco Nexus 7706, Catalyst 6509 VSS, Catalyst 3850 stacks, Nexus 5k & 2k fabric switches, HP switches, Dell switches
  • Experience with network switching & protocols: VTP, STP, VLAN, Etherchannel, Port-channel, LACP
  • Experience with network monitoring systems and protocols: Solarwinds, Statseeker, SNMP
  • Experience with DHCP servers, DNS servers, and IPAM systems: Bluecat
  • Experience with enterprise wireless LAN systems and architecture: Cisco 5520 WLC, Aruba 7220 mobility controllers
  • Experience with branch office site-to-site VPN: Aruba, Meraki, IPsec\IKE
  • Experience with NAC appliances: Cisco ISE, 802.1x, RADIUS
  • Experience with firewalls: Palo Alto, Sonicwall, Fortinet
  • Foundation network knowledge: OSI model, TCP\IP & UDP, Ethernet
