Job Description

Remote work can be performed occasionally offsite with manager's approval, but work on the classified systems must be done onsite at Quantico or another approved NCIS location.

Seeking a highly experienced full stack web application developer to join our team supporting some of the largest law enforcement agencies in the country with their intelligence endeavors​. 

Comfortable using a wide range of languages, applications, and software. Can do attitude that’s willing to learn new things when required to get things done. Keeps up with modern best practices in the industry.

Strong self-management, good communication, and outstanding problem-solving skills are required.

You will have direct contact with the customers, who may or may not be highly technical. You must be able to handle a full range of duties from gathering and refining requirements through developing, testing, and supporting the deployment of the resultant code. Must be able to multi-task and manage deadlines, work independently, effectively, and efficiently.

*** Security+ or other IAT level II certification ***

  • At least 5 years commercial web application development experience

  • JavaScript/HTML/CSS

  • Back end coding experience. Mainly ColdFusion initially, open to developers new to ColdFusion.

  • MSSQL or other RDBMs, intermediate SQL

  • Onsite: Quantico, VA

Useful:  

  • ColdFusion, c#, java, python.

  • jQuery, angular, react, vue, etc.

  • Comfortable around windows servers, installing software, configuration, and management. Any Devops experience.

  • SVN or GIT.

  • Cloud experience/knowledge

  • Strong attention to detail, strong written and verbal skills

  • Creating software that is intuitive and easy to use.

  • Able to work with client to review business requirements and discuss solutions

On a typical day, you will primarily work on a new feature or enhancement, with some possible interruption to troubleshoot end-user issues, meet/discuss new features, support recent deployed features, assist in testing server patching, resolve any issues resulting in Production downtime and answer general application questions. Some of the non-developer tasks you will be responsible for include:

- Managing multiple servers across NIPR and SIPR including

  • monitoring server health

  • monitoring logs

  • rebooting

  • restarting services

  • managing SSL certs

  • managing configurations (Software, DNS, IIS configs)

  • patching

- Administrative

  • Putting in change requests in Service Now

  • Attending review boards to present changes and obtain approval

  • Interfacing with other technical positions at NCIS (SEC OPS, Sys Admins, DBAs)

- Requirements Analysis

  • Meeting with customer to discuss progress

  • Demoing application progress

  • Fielding requests and comments and translating into requirements
