At GDIT, people are our differentiator. The DBA shall configure and maintain relational databases such as MySQL or Oracle and NoSQL databases such as Cassandra. Manage databases in a high availability, high scalable environment. Install and test new versions of all databases management systems. The DBA shall build databases schemes, tables, procedures, and permissions. The DBA shall develop databases utilities and automated reporting. The DBA shall create shell scripts for task automation. The DBA shall create, test and execute SQL data management language variants. The DBA shall analyze, sustain and maintain capacity for performance requirements and consolidate and tune the database for optimal efficiency. The DBA shall monitor systems and platforms for availability. Also configure backup, clustering, mirroring, replication and failover solutions. The DBA shall install and test upgrade patches, restore and recover corrupted databases. The DBA shall install and implement security encryption measures. The DBA shall work independently and in an Agile team environment also troubleshoot and resolve technical and nontechnical issues.
 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience.
  • Minimum of 10 years related experience.
  • Demonstrated experience serving as a DBA high volume Linux based environment.
  • Demonstrated experience configuring and maintaining relational databases.
  • Demonstrated experience performing data modeling and schema design.
  • Demonstrated experience database health monitoring and troubleshooting.
  • Demonstrated experience working on an Agile development team.

Desired:

  • Demonstrated experience administering Windows 2008 systems
  • Demonstrated experience with GIT, Maven, and Jenkins/Hudson
  • Demonstrated experience serving as a Database Administrator within the customer space.
  • Demonstrated experience maintaining and configuring MySQL RDS instances in AWS cloud environment.

Analyzes customer requirements and develops technical solutions to complex problems.

Applies knowledge of API (Application Programing Interface) for data services and databases.

Designs, develops, builds, analyzes, evaluates, installs and administers database management systems to include database modeling and design, relational database architecture, metadata and repository creation and configuration management.

Designs and implements databases with respect to access methods, access time, batch processes, device allocation, validation checks, organization, ETL tasks, protection and security, documentation, and statistical methods

Prepares system requirements, source analysis and process analyses and design throughout the database implementation.

Defines and oversees database organizations, standards, controls, procedures, and documentation.

Provides technical consulting in the definition, design, and creation of a database environment.

Advises applications development staff and users on data-based solutions to business problems, data architectures, database management system facilities and capabilities, and the operation and tuning of databases.

Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned.

Provides advanced guidance and leadership to less-experienced database personnel.

May serve as a team or task leader. (Not a people manager)
