The Business Analyst (BA)/Proxy Product Owner to serve as a proxy for the product owner on a SAFe Agile team, ensuring the customer’s requirements are captured through a variety of methods such as interview/observation and document examination. These requirements are captured with comprehensive, accurate user stories and acceptance criteria


  • Analyze broadly-defined requirements and use functional decomposition to define high-level epics/features and stories to create a well-organized, value-driven framework that provides the required business value in a prioritized product backlog
  • Write individual user stories and acceptance criteria in a very clear and concise manner so they are easy to understand and easily implemented by the development team
  • Identify related user stories and epics/features, group them into themes as necessary and document the interrelationship and associated business process flows as necessary
  • Recognize when to integrate the needs of related projects as well as the needs of multiple stakeholders to produce an overall solution
  • Plan and perform analytical and engineering research, design development as well as other assignments in conformance with design, engineering and customer specifications
  • Interface daily with the scrum master to help set the direction of the software development team
  • Coordinate the activities of technicians assigned to specific analytical projects
  • Help with iteration/sprint planning, test acceptance, prototyping and team demos as well as retrospectives
  • Establish story acceptance and accept stories into the baseline.
  • Conduct User Acceptance Testing
  • Monitor risks and opportunities associated with requirements
  • Assist the Product Owner with writing acceptance criteria


  • Experience as a business/technical analyst or product owner on SAFe Agile software development projects
  • An Active TS/SCI with eligibility to obtain a CI Poly
  • BS/BA degree or related discipline and 15+ years of experience
