The Network Engineer role is a contributing member of an established team, expected to function under direct as well as operate independently. Primary responsibility is establishing and sustaining custom transport solutions using a combination of internet based networking protocols, commercial technologies, public/private cloud resources and cyber security best practices.
The Network Engineer position will need to be familiar with the following vendors/hardware.
EX Ethernet Switches
Duties include: designs, implements and maintains custom IP based data transport and communications solutions. This role involves networking, Linux, virtualization and public/private cloud technologies. The Networking Engineer is responsible for system hardening as well as developing scripts and/or automating solutions to securely enable effective communications.
Develops technical solutions for the management of software, hardware, configurations, and architectures, including network control software, routers, switches, lines, modems, adapters and servers.
Installs, supports and/or maintains LANs and/or WANs; evaluates and recommends networking product and software upgrades with advanced level knowledge.
Critically monitors network performance. Independently troubleshoots and resolves highly complex problems to ensure quality transmission service on the network.
Advisor in maintaining operating efficiency and stability, ensuring the security and integrity of all systems and data, and creates strategic solutions to outages and other issues.
Experience configuring and deploying network and web services including DNS, DHCP, SMTP, Syslog and HTTPS.
Experience with virtualization technologies, including hypervisors, virtual machines (VMs), virtual desktops, and virtual networking technologies
Experience designing, building deploying and maintaining networks, including advanced knowledge of networking, switching, subnetting, firewalls, ports and protocols.
Experience analyzing, diagnosing, troubleshooting and resolving physical and virtual infrastructure related technical issues (i.e., tcpdump, syslog, pcap, netflow, etc.) preferred
Strong technical writing skills related to creating/editing design documents, drawing packages, training packages, etc. preferred
