GDIT – Federal Civilian Division is currently looking for a Systems Integration Engineer (Network) to join our team to support the United States Army Medical Material Development Activity (USAMMDA) located at Ft Detrick, MD.

Primary Responsibilities:

The Systems Integration Engineer will support the Warfighter Health, Performance and Evacuation (WHPE) PMO at USAMMDA in the following tasks.  This is not a programming position.

  • Provide systems integration engineering support for product development of systems such as the Health Readiness and Performance System (HRAPS).  Apply engineering principles for the effective integration of technology(s) into a system of systems, such as Health Readiness and Performance System (HRAPS), using an incremental, phased approach. 
  • Provide technical expertise related to military tactical networks and systems such as Blue Force Tracker (BFT), Joint – Battle Command Platform (J-BCP), Nett Warrior, Tactical Assault Kit (TAK) based software, Integrated Tactical Network (ITN), Link-16, Combat Service Support (CSS) Very Small Aperture Terminal (VSAT), and Warrior Robust Enhanced Network (WREN) TSM waveform radios.
  • Research, evaluate, and recommend other Government off the shelf (GOTS) and Commercial off the shelf (COTS) tactical networks and systems suggested leader actions into actionable information based on, but not limited to, requirements, technology maturity and availability for inclusion to programs of record in an incremental, phased approach.
  • Develop plans, schedules and estimates as they relate to systems integration for integrating HRAPS physiological sensors and corresponding software with DoD tactical networks, mobile devices, software portals, and other tactical systems.
  • Draft technical instructions, engineering plans, technical designs, and other systems integration related documents.   
  • Apply knowledge, skills, and experience creating and manipulating systems engineering models using Systems Modeling Language (SysML) according to Department of Defense Architecture Framework (DoDAF) standards.  Documents and architecture will include but not limited to Operational Viewpoints (OV), Systems Viewpoints (SV), Capability Viewpoints (CV), Data and Information Viewpoints (DIV), Project Viewpoints (PV), Services Viewpoints (SvcV), and Standards Viewpoints (StdV).
  • Review and develop Interface Control Documents (ICD), Application Programming Interfaces (API), and system libraries to include port assignments and protocols such as Cursor on Target (CoT), Protocol Buffer (ProtoBuff), Variable Message Format (VMF), JavaScript Object Notation (JSON), and Extensible Markup Language (XML).
  • Create and manage software development timelines in coordination with software and hardware vendors.
  • Supporting other special projects as assigned such as Operational Assessments (OA), Developmental Tests (DT), and New Equipment Training (NET).


  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a field such as Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, IT Hardware, Computer Engineering or related discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, professional training, or work experience.
  • 12+ years of related experience.   
  • Primary experience in hardware integration and some software integration.
  • Experience using and developing SysML DoDAF documents
  • Experience planning, coordinating, and integrating within a schedule.
  • Must be U.S. citizen and have Secret Clearance


  • Experience with cybersecurity and/or DoD acquisition is a plus
