Instructional Developer

Our work depends on Instructional Developer joining our team to support training and career development activities for the Center for Disease Control. The person in this position will assist with the production and execution of virtual learning programs (webinars, web-based training, and virtual conferences), in-person instructor-led training, user guides, and other career-related resources.  Design, development, and facilitation skills are a must.

HOW AN INSTRUCTIONAL DEVELOPER WILL MAKE AN IMPACT
● Designs and develops instructional approaches and interactive courseware to meeting training requirements
●Participate in developing new and existing products that meet government training needs

  • Collaborate with subject matter experts and instructional designers to build innovative training programs and content
  • Develop training materials including instructor guides, student guides, supplemental training materials such as quick reference guides, web-based training, and other training content, as needed
  • Assist with planning, developing, and evaluating in-person, online and hybrid training programs
  • Support learning technology initiatives, including webinars, online courses, self-paced e-learning and streaming video
  • Prepare regular program content and messaging (course descriptions, learning objectives, outreach emails, etc.)
  • Conduct research for relevant learning program content



WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:
● Education: Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Science in instructional technology, e-learning, instructional design or related field
● Required Experience: 3+ years of related experience developing and supporting online learning and other learning technologies
● Required Technical Skills:

  • Excellent understanding and application of all phases of the ADDIE process
  • Knowledge and application of adult learning theory
  • Awareness of Section 508 compliance, and conversion of training and supporting documentation into 508 compliant products
  • Experience facilitating training in-person in a traditional classroom setting or on-line via virtual classrooms
  • Experience or training in developing learning design documents, storyboards, and e-learning prototypes
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
     

● Security Clearance Level: Ability to obtain a Public Trust through National Agency Check
● Required Skills and Abilities: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, time management skills, and critical thinking
● Preferred Skills: Knowledge of industry leading online delivery and content sharing platforms (i.e., MS Teams, WebEx, Adobe Connect, SharePoint, etc.)
● Location: Remote, occasional customer site visits may be required

Salary and Benefit Information

The likely salary range for this position is $56,800 - $85,200, this is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary; rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
