Functional Responsibilities: Serve as the Government’s cloud engineering primary point-of-contact and to provide overall leadership and guidance for the design and engineering for all cloud based IT service capabilities and contractor personnel assigned. The Chief Cloud Engineer shall assign engineering and design tasking requirements to contractor personnel and supervise on-going cloud technical efforts. 

This person shall be readily available to respond to Government questions, concerns, and comments, as well as be proactive in alerting the Government to potential contractual or programmatic issues.

Responsible for the development and maintenance of an IRM Cloud Roadmap to achieve the strategic objectives established by DOS. Works with IRM leadership to ensure this cloud roadmap is aligned with and supports the to-be IRM enterprise architecture and the diplomatic mission and business needs of embassies, posts, and other IRM customer sets.

Collaborates with all Team Chief Engineers to ensure projects comply with DOS cloud directives and the IRM Cloud Roadmap and that services running in production cloud environments are delivering on the intended objectives.

Chief Cloud Engineer provide business and technical strategy, solution development and technical guidance to develop, maintain, and market missions set solutions based on cloud service offerings. Cloud Solution Architects specialize in application and software architecture.

Minimum/General Experience: This position requires a minimum of twenty years IT experience of which 5 years must be in the cloud environment. Experience should include:

  • Solution development and application, software architecture and cloud solutions;
  • Planning, directing, and managing complex IT engineering projects/operations of a nature similar in size and scope;
  • Knowledge and experience in infrastructure design and engineering; up-to-date knowledge of current and emerging network and infrastructure technologies;
  • Demonstrated experience with the management and supervision of a significant number of Tier 2 and Tier 3 engineers of various labor categories and skills in projects similar in size and scope;
  • Demonstrated written and oral communication skills, including experience in presenting material to senior Government officials
  • Minimum Education and Certifications:
  • A Bachelor’s degree in computer science/systems, information systems/technology, engineering/engineering technology, software
  • Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) preferred;
  • Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE);
  • PMP Certified or equivalent preferred; and
  • ITIL Certified (current) or equivalent preferred.

This position requires being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by December 8, 2021 or the start date, if after December 8.
